I can not believe how happy I am right now. I've just had the most wonderful day!

I met [livejournal.com profile] storme (after discovering her last night in the [livejournal.com profile] neil_gaiman community) at Harrods -- or rather, bumped into her, as we were both poking around the table with Coraline books piled on top of it, and had to ask tentatively ' Are you Storme?' Which of course she was. And she was wearing the greatest t-shirt I have ever seen in my entire life, a rare promo shirt for Good Omens (which, as I'm sure you all know, is my very favourite book ever) that says ' The Apocolypse is Coming....next Saturday, just after dinner.' Love it!
So we stood in the queue together and did the awkward getting to know you talk, and I think I said some very strange things, as I usually do when I am feeling nervous. *giggles* We felt a bit sad that so few people turned up for the signing, probably only about twenty in total. Harrods hadn't even bothered to advertise it, which was a shame, not to mention a bit rude. But of course Neil will probably be wishing for such small numbers at the two big events tomorrow!
Neil signed three things for me, a Coraline audiobook (which I had to buy at Harrods or they wouldn't have let me sign anything else), a 1st Edition Coraline and a 1st Edition Smoke and Mirrors. I wish I had brought more things to sign, since he had the time, but oh well!

The best thing was when I asked him to sign my Smoke and Mirrors to 'Nevvie', instead of my incredibly boring real name (although everyone I know calls me Nevvie so much that I'm beginning to think it is my real name ;-) and he said: 'Nevvie?' That's very interesting, I love that...I think you've inspired me to write a short story about a Nevvie...' I had to stop myself from quite literally bouncing up and down when he said that, I just couldn't believe it! *swoons happily*

Since we didn't have anything else to sign, Storme had the idea that Neil could sign our t-shirts (I was wearing a Morpheus and Shakespeare shirt from The Wake), so we asked him if he would, and he said yes of course, but not today, as he only had one signing pen and it needed to last until tomorrow. So he promised to sign them for us tomorrow night after the Foyles event. Wooohooo!
Oh, and I quite like the way I phrased my question....'We have a proposition for you....' *giggles* The expression on Neil's face was absolutely priceless -- surprised, shocked, and extremely amused all at once. God I love him. *laughs*

So we left Harrods, after waving cheerfully goodbye to Neil and saying 'see you tomorrow!' I can't wait. :))

::so very jealous::
I want Neil to come do a signing in New York! I always miss the signings by like a day or two . . . once I got to a bookstore the day AFTER an author had been there, and I hadn't known about it! ::mutters:: I bought an autographed hardcover, but it wasn't the same.

And if he writes a story about a Nevvie, I'll feel priveledged and in the know ::grins:: And then I can ask for your autograph!

And - what was your proposition for him?

The proposition was actually us asking him to sign our t-shirts.

The phrasing was all Nevvie's fault :)

If he writes about a Nevvie (did you tell him WHERE the nickname comes from?! :P ) we can call you The Muse! :D Should we make him a N.U.M.B. bagdge too? *gigglies*

*puts Neil on her list of Books I REALLY NEED To Read - instead of Books I JUST WANT to Read*

love you!

*sigh*

Sounds fantastic. Wish I could have been there. I'm green with envy you know? Positively puce. =) Wish I could have seen the expression on his face. Priceless I'm sure. ;)

I love it

It was pretty amazing. Ahhh, if only eyes could take printable pictures! :D

Mmmmm Giles...*glaze*
Sorry, just had to drool at your icon. *grins*
I have Antony Stewart Head's autograph, but unfortuantely I don't have an amusing story to go with it. *G*

And, wow -- you like Nick Bantock too! I'm absolutely in love with Griffen and Sabine. :)

*waves back* I think there may be some sort of conspiracy. I have yet to be let in on it, though... XD

Agh. Neil Gaiman? Agh.

Missed again. Agh. I think he once turned up at university to do a signing but I somehow never quite got around to hearing about it and only knew the day after when a friend showed me a freshly signed copy of Good Omens. I didn't say anything, didn't ask any questions because I was too annoyed that I missed my chance.

So this is how you do comments, Nevvie-poo. Too cryptic for me - When I hear "Horn" and "Gondor" juxtaposed, I think, for some strange reason, of cheese. Yes, cheese. And a yummy Pouilly-Fuisse too, for some reason.

Someone's fucked wit me brain wirin' againe.

Ah well. You know who this is :D
