Lets see...have spent much of the past few days in London with Eyre and Kara. On wednsday we went to a Canadian pub, as they were feeling a bit homesick, and I ate Canada's only traditional food - the patine. Patine is chips covered in gravy and cheese curds. It was marvelously fattening and delicious. *grins* Then we took some very silly tourist photo's in Trafalgar Square, and hopped on a bus to see where it might take us. We went down the Kings Road and I found a pancake house! Huzzah! : )
Thursday I saw LOTR:FOTR again (it's here until 6 June, I'm going to see it as many times as I can until then!) with Eyre, and ate chinese for dinner. Yum yum.
Friday I burned myself badly on the oven door - I still have a vivid red slash down my leg where it hit the burning hot oven, but thankfully it doesn't hurt as much anymore. That's all that can be said for friday I think. *g*
Saturday was ever so much fun! We played tourist and went on a bus tour with their new housemate Jackie, who's very nice and from Texas. Eyre, Kara and I wore our big Canada hats and shouted 'Canada rules!' to everyone we saw from atop the bus. *laughs* (We have photographic evidence of this silliness - whether or not I'll allow a picture of myself wearing a red and white Cat In The Hat style headpiece with a giant maple leaf on it to be put online remains to be seen... ;- ) We even met another very sweet American boy named Matthew who was also taking the tour, and we had a very nice chat; we'll probably see him again as he is using the same student tour guide (BUNAC) as Eyre and Kara, which will be nice. After the tour we tried to go shopping on Portobello Road, but nearly all the stalls were closed by the time we arrived. I did manage to buy some excellent fresh bread, and we ate at a very trendy cafe at the end of Notting Hill. Then we all went home, as we were knackered, and Kara had to wake up stupidly early for her pub job the next day. I can't believe the pubs are open at *6am* for the World Cup! Who the hell wants to start drinking at 6am!! All this football madness is driving me crazy. HATE football. Stupid football.
Anyway. :)
Today is sunday, and I have done absolutely nothing. *laughs* Nevermind that the house is a complete disaster, I have two lessons and a final exam to write for HOL, or any of the myriad of things I need to do. Ah well. : )
Kara's article for the Adventure Archives about the Happy Nevvie Dance is soooo cute. But then, so am I. *giggles*
The new fad that seems to be sweeping the Ravenclaw Common Room is the HAPPY NEVVIE DANCE. For those of you who don't know, Eyre Greening and I, Kara Grainger, are in London for the summer and we are spending as much time as we can with the always entertaining Professor Neverwhere.
We were astonished, and quite pleased to discover that Nevvie, when she is bounding with joy, shows it on the outside. She keeps her arms down at her sides with her hands turned out, palms down, and does a penguin-esque walk to the great amusement to anyone around her.
After a posting was made on the Common Room's Wacky Taffy board, the dance has been sweeping through Ravenclaw faster than Legolas can draw his arrows. Some of the students have started to use it themselves. Angelina Lupin had this to say about it, "It's so fun! I did it today by accident in front of my best friend Chris and he couldn't stop laughing for about 20 minutes!" When asked about the fad she started, Nevvie had this to say, "Cool. I've never initiated a fad before. I think the dance is cute." Oh, come now Nevvie. I'm pretty sure most of the school has Nevvie-itis. You are a fad unto yourself. With most of our house under the spell, it won't be long before all of HOL has the HAPPY NEVVIE DANCE fever.
