I'm back! I hope you all missed me properly. *grins impishly*
On saturday I went to Camden Market early in the afternoon, and met Mark and Louise for a bit of shopping. I bought
eyre_lasgalen a spiffy christmas present, and a lovely silver ring and bracelet set for myself, because I deserve it. ;-) Wandered around for a while looking at all the stalls, pining over things I wanted but couldn't afford (an enormous purple fuzzy bean bag! A stunning velvet cloak! Aiiiiii...) and got very annoyed, once again, that the only goth shop around never carries anything above a size 2, grrrr. Stupid Black Rose. *kicks stupid shop* Also wanted to buy a pair of fuzzy ears, but the only costume shop didn't have any -- how bloody useless is that! At least I bought some amazing doughnuts and fruit smoothies, which made me happy. Mmmm sweets. :)
Around 6pm Mark went home and Louise and I went to the Roundhouse theatre to see the brilliant Michael Moore! Wooohooooo! For those of you who don't know, MM is a documentary maker, political activist/satirist and is Public Enemy #1 to everyone in the government and big business, because he SPEAKS THE TRUTH. He is fearless about telling the honest, uncomfortable truth about everything we pretend not to notice in our world today. I absolutely love him, in case you couldn't tell. *grins*
We had the most perfect seats -- third row, dead centre -- and spent the first act laughing our heads off. The second act was very different: he made the audience listen to things we didn't want to hear -- oh, its okay to laugh about the follies of George Dubya or Tony Blair's ridiculous policies, but now he was getting more personal. He spent about a half hour discussing September 11th, and the audience didn't laugh once. It was frightening, it was hard to listen to, but it was all true. You could hear the audience shifting in their seats, not wanting to hear, but there was no way to leave. After making everyone nearly weep with guilt at being a member of the 'Comfortable Class', the people who expect 'someone else' to sort out their problems and were the ones who let the terrorists take over using a weapon smaller than a penknife, he changed the mood completely and decided to call the White House. Well, first he called the Houses of Parliament, but they were out so he called ol' Dubya instead. The intern on the phone had obviously talked to him before, because she told Mike to 'stop calling already', and wouldn't even answer the innocuous question of what toothpaste the Prez uses. Ah well. ;-)
The show ended with a plea to get out and do something, change the world in your own small way, and don't let yourself be ruled by anyone but yourself. Go Mike!
Went back to Louise's to spend the night, as I would have missed my last train home, and Mark came over as well. Ate delicious chinese food for dinner, watched The Craft (oh, how that film makes me laugh), talked a bit and then went to sleep. Or rather, I tried to sleep. I couldn't because Mark and Louise, who are not going out, kept smooching and making lip smacking noises all damn night. Arrghh! All night I would hear things like -- Mark: You're so sexxxxy *wetkissnoise* Louise: Shhhhh go to bed *giggle* *wetlipsmack* Ugh. UGHHHHH. I so wanted to get up and puke. And they had no idea I was awake either. You'd think they'd remember that I have chronic insomnia and NEVER get to sleep easily, especially not with that going on next to me. I tried stuffing the pillow in my ears, throwing the blanket over my head...nothing worked. *smacksmacklipdrool* was all I heard all sodding night. And I know they wanted it to be a secret, I can't tell you how tempted I was to mock them the next day, if only to get them back for keeping me up all night. But I'm far too nice. Most of the time. ;-)
Sunday was an exceedingly boring day. I finally got a few hours of sleep once the sun came out, and woke up around 11am. I watched the direct to video Disney film Aladdin and the King of Thieves and read my fabulous copy of Empire Magazine with all the Two Towers goodness. Louise had gone out to buy a christmas tree and when she got back we all put the decorations on and took a picture of the pretty sparkling tree. Then it was time for me to go home, which took over three hours, but that was alright because it gave me time to read my new book, The Other Boleyn Sister. So far it's fantastic, the author has really captured the personalities of all the historical figures, especially Henry Tudor and Mary Boleyn. I usually prefer to read actual historical biographies, but this fictional account seems extremely accurate, and a very enjoyable read too.
Had corn flakes and a granola bar for dinner because I have no food and couldn't afford take away. Anyone want to give me some money? :)
And now it's monday, I'm feeling tired and poorly (and hungry!) and terribly bored. At least I have my Fellowship Extended DVD to keep me company. TIG! *giggles*
Edited to show off my gorgeous new icon -- isn't she pretty? I'm so talented. *beams proudly* :))
