neverwhere: (Alan Cumming *lick*)
Well. Not just me. But I was there! :D

Mmm Alan. He is so astoundingly sexy, have I mentioned that yet? *giggles* But I digress. :)

Tonight he gave a reading of his new book Tommy's Tale, which is a semi-autobiographical modern faerie tale, and, at least when Alan reads it, seems like a very interesting book indeed. (But then, we all know that he could be reading VCR instructions and it'd sound like porn. *lol*) He was wearing a grey suit and a slinky deep v-neck black shirt, and his hair was short and spikey. He grinned his adorable impish grin alot, which made me swoon continuously, and was incredibly witty and fun. He read from the book for about a half hour, and then was interviewed for another hour by a famous journalist who's name I can't remember. (Like it matters. It's all about Alan!) He said that he was about to go on a publicity tour for X-Men:2, and struck an orgasmic incredibly cute Nightcrawler pose which everyone enjoyed, and that he had several new projects in the works, including a bizarre film with Catherine Zeta-Jones set in Wales where Alan is a wannabe musical star who has to take over his father's Rugby team when he dies. Apparently in a dream sequence the big, butch manly men all do a routine from West Side Story. *laughs* He talked at length about writing the book, what it was like to be famous in America. He said that he's had offers to do a perfume (cologne?) and he wants to call it the appropriate, if slightly dodgy, 'Cumming.' *chuckles* He slid the neck of his shirt down to his trousers and showed off his chest because someone wanted to see his nipple ring. He also giggled quite alot, which was so endearing, especially when he did a kind of snarky squeal-giggle that meant he about to say something really naughty. Sooo cute. *dreamy sigh*

After the reading he had to rush off for more publicity events, but even though the organizers wanted him to scurry away, he refused because he wanted to do a signing for everyone. Isn't that just amazing? What a kind and generous heart. I got my book signed, but didn't even manage to splutter out anything coherent to say to him -- there's a song in the musical Ragtime called 'He Wanted To Say', which is about two people unable to express their true feelings and so say something shallow instead, and that was me. That's always me. I've been to countless book signings and met alot of famous people, so you'd think I'd be able to string even one sentence together when I meet these people that I love, but nooooo. Even after years and years I STILL just stand there with an inane grin and twitch nervously before they send me away. It's SO unfair! I just wanted to say something like 'You gave an utterly delightful reading tonight, I've been a fan of yours for about 10 years and it was such a pleasure to finally see you', but all I did was say 'Thank you' and giggle like a prat as he signed the book. Sigh. *kicks self hard* I did manage to take a few pictures, but I didn't have anyone with me to take a photo of me with Alan, so unfortunately there'll all with strangers. Hopefully at least one will turn out well and I can crop it (and maybe add a photoshop starburst ;-) and just pretend no one else was ever in the picture. *G*

And now I'm very tired from all that swooning. Hehehe.

I'm sure there were many more things to say, but I can't remember right now. I've seen a 'what does your name mean' meme going around, so I'd just like to say that mine means 'Who Is Like God'. FEAR ME! :D
