Wheeee new job!
Sep. 6th, 2004 07:15 pmI'm so happy. Really. It's been such a long time since I've felt this content with my life. It's not even the job itself that makes me giddy (I'm not exactly thrilled with the commute or the manual labour involved), but for once I actually feel like I'm accomplishing something. I'm doing something important. I'm part of a team. I can actually tell people I'm in THE FILM INDUSTRY. Bwahahahahaha. ;-)
So what is it I do? Well, the first part of the day is my 'official' job, being part of the Box Up Crew that basically does all the crap that no one else wants to, like clean out storage rooms and file film containers in alphabetical order (and by reel number and production company and various other things to make sorting exhaustingly complicated). Then my boss goes home and for the rest of the evening I'm with the regular Vault guys (I work in the film vault, did I explain that yet?) and do a lot of running around, up and down stairs finding and retrieving various films that the other employees need to complete their jobs, like editing, CGI, colour adjustment, etc. Believe it or not, this is the fun part. *grins* It's great! I get tofondle handle dailies from films in production (like Shark Tale and A Series of Unfortunate Events), clips from tv shows, and have the satisfaction of knowing that without little me, the work would not get done. Whoot! (I've been doing a lot of running around with Lost episodes, which of course gives me a happy. Mmmmm Dom. But I digress...)
Just how cool is my job? Steven Spielberg dropped by a few months ago to look at the work being done for The Terminal. Awww yeaaahhhh. *smug*
I don't even mind that I'm the only girl working in the Vault -- there are lots of women in the building, but none in my area -- it makes me feel rather special, to be honest. And I can handle any ol' boys club anyday. Go me! :)
...It's my birthday on sunday. Just so you know. *grins playfully*
