[personal profile] neverwhere
So.

It's 2003 already. Wow. I swear just a few short months ago I was moaning about how intolerable it was to wait an entire year before seeing The Two Towers. I wish I could say I did great things in 2002, but I didn't. I ate, slept, and occasionally my laundry. Woohooo. :) This had better be a damn exciting year, because frankly I deserve some excitement! *grins*

Things I will do this year:

  • Audition for Batman: The Musical. Yes. it's a real musical. And yes, Tim Burton is involved. *excited squee*
  • Lose weight so am prepared for above mentioned musical. 100 pounds should do it...;-)
Okay okay, that's completely unrealistic. But I have to go on a serious diet this year, I cannot continue living in the shame spiral that is my life with all this excess baggage. Ugh.
  • Stay in touch with my friends, and never forget to send them cards for their birthday.
Speaking of which, I should probably put [livejournal.com profile] ashfae's in the post tomorrow.
  • Remember that I am a wonderful person, and that I deserve to be loved.

Things I will not do:

  • Ignore my father for months. Communication is painful and strained at the best of times, but I will not make things worse by not talking to him, as this only makes him angrier. Also it is not healthy to have this kind of relationship, and must work to make amends. If possible.
  • Berate myself for being too fat/ugly/unpopular/unwanted etc.
Easier said than done, I know. But I shall try, one day at a time.
  • Let my fear of rejection rule my life. I will make decisions, and I will stick to them! YES!

It seems like the first week of the new year has been particularly traumatic for my friends -- three of them have left LJ without warning, although hopefully they will decide to return, if only for the purely selfish reason that I miss them very much. Another lost a treasured and irreplaceable possession, which was like losing a part of herself forever. And yet another fears he has ruined his first relationship and doesn't know what to do. Virtually everyone is having a very bad start indeed. How I wish I could change that. I wish so much I wasn't just me, that I was someone important and special with the ability to change things for the better; they don’t have to be great changes, just ones that make my friends happy. But I'm still just me. No amount of wishing will change that. (Dammit I want magickal powers! Is that so much to ask! ;-)

I went to a comic book fair near Kings Cross station this afternoon (I really should just get GEEK tattooed on my forehead), and had a little chuckle when I noticed I was the only female in the place. Sometimes being a geekygirl is such fun, I feel very elitist and special, and other times I just think 'Why oh WHY am I the only one (or at least, the only sane one) at this Star Trek/Doctor Who/Fantasy/Whatever Convention??' *laughs* I bought 3 X-Men: Evolution comics, a Scary Godmother #1 (a fantastic series by Jill Thompson, really sweet and silly and spooky) and even the very first editions of X-Men and X-Force I read from 1992. Ahhh, memories. *G* I didn't find the Nightcrawler action figure I was looking for, and as no one else seems to have it I guess I'll have to troll through Ebay and pay an outrageous price for it. But at least I'll have a Kurt of my very own. *grins*

I also bought some great new sheet music this week, to help me practice my piano -- The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tori Amos B-Sides (now have all the books except Scarlet's Walk, is that even out yet?) and even found the script book with sheet music of Once More, With Feeling, the Buffy musical, whooot! 'Life's a Show' is such an easy song to play, and all the others aren't very difficult either. Am very disappointed that neither 'The Mustard' or 'The Parking Ticket' are in the book, as I really wanted to use them as audition songs -- okay, so they're not exactly appropriate for Les Mis, but if you walk in for a comedy audition and just sing 'THEY GOT THE MUSTARD OOOOOUUT!' you're guaranteed to be remembered. *grins*

I suppose I should go to bed now, what with it being 5am and all. *giggles*
Before I go, please say hello to some new friends! Welcome [livejournal.com profile] gypsyjr and [livejournal.com profile] moonriver -- I don't know you, but you both must have excellent taste to have added me as a friend. *smug grin* And say hello to [livejournal.com profile] mysticpenguin, [livejournal.com profile] sheldrake and [livejournal.com profile] ladynemo! Wheee! (I'd watch out for LadyNemo, she pretends to be sweet and innocent, but she's really a very naughty lil' vixen. ;-)

yes! I'm not the only one who things Kurt Wagner is one sexy blue fuzzy bitch! *growwl* Nightcrawler is one of my faves. And X-Force was my favorite X-series before they comepletely destroyed it (that is, when they made only my favorite character Shatterstar disappear *weeps*).

I wonder if there is a nightcrawler community? There is! XD HAHAHa and you just joined it huh? ;) *squees* me join too!!!!! *joins*

Esca dear, where have you been? Methinks you don't actually READ my journal, otherwise you would have noticed all my recent entries have been full of mad squeeage for the blue fuzzy elf. *grins* :-P

X-Force was my favourite too, I liked all the characters so much more than in the regular X-Men series. Plus they were (mostly) teenagers, so that made me like it more too. Sunspot is even sexier on Evo than in the comics, if you can believe it. Mrrowrrr. *giggles* But no one could ever be as cute and wonderful as our ickle Kurt! Wheeeeeeee! :D

Good resolutions, milady, very doable, and we'll be there to slap yo back to reality when you get down on your ... bad self.

Do the Batman thing, very exciting, and we'll become famous together.

I'm glad you're just you. I greatly love and admire just you. If you were somebody else I would love you less.

I get a card?? Yay!!!!!

Nightmare Before Christmas sheet music!!! Aiiiiggh!!! That stuff is EVIL!!! Have you LOOKED at the sheet music for Jack's Lament? It changes keys about sixteen times! It's MAD! Do y'remember Keith Perhac? He dated Liz for a while. He can sing uncannily like Danny Elfman, and tried to get me to learn Nightmare sheet music so we could perform it at Cabaret, and it ATE ME ALIVE! (though in the end I taught myself to play the Masochism Tango and we performed that at Cross Dress Cabaret and I dressed up like a very cute sort of British boy and it was fantastic and I wish you'd been there to see, so it all turned out well)

...er, not to discourage you or anything. *gryn* Just beware! Danny Elfman is a scary scary composer! Fear his sheet music! I don't suppose the Tori B-sides book has the music for her cover of Thank You, does it? I'd maim to figure out how to play that one.

I will come to the UK, and then you and I can be girlygeeks together and bewilder all the poor boys who don't believe that female types can actually like comic books. Oh, and we will lust after Nightcrawler, and I will make you a t-shirt with "BAMF!" written on it in giant letters. =)

Hey, as a random question, what are your thoughts on pumpkin pie?

Those are good resolutions. Best of luck with them. *Pippinycuddles*

Eep! Do you still want a ticket for the 18th? I haven't contacted Warner Village yet so if you do there's still time. Really hope you can make it - and the party afterwards. (Although if you can only make one or the other, that's fine too.)

Am very in favour of Tori sheet music. I only have "Little Earthquakes"... must do something about that sometime...

lots of love,

If (on the one in a billion chance) I do actually get in Batman, I'm sure it'll only be as Gothamite #3 or summat, so I doubt it'll make me famous. But who cares! Its BATMAN! :D

Pumpkin is my favourite kind of pie! :D

Danny Elfman is a god, but his music is impossible to play! UGHH!!! Who knew there were so many sharps on a keyboard? *laughs*
The best I can manage is to stumble through the chords, there is no way in hell I'll be able to do any of it. But at least I have it, so I can give it to other, more talented people to do for me. *grins*

A shirt with BAMF! on it, whooot! I would wear that all the time, and I want a shirt with Billy on it that said TIG! *giggles* Then I would be a very happy bunny indeed. :)

I think I vaguely remember Keith, but right now all I can think about is you as a cute Britishboy (as if you could be any other kind) singing Masachism Tango!! There had better be pictures. If you know what's good for you. *gives you the evil eye* :-P

Nooo, that is what you take a particularly interesting dive (being a dancer) while fighting, running, or whatever and get caught on camera at "the actor who took a particularly bad dive" and known throughout movie world, leading, of course, to big things.

Eeeek! I completely forgot! Yesyesyes I am coming, fear me! *lol*

*grin* Have added you to Word file. Ticket will be bought. :-)

I just need to work out how I'm actually going to get there, as I don't have a car. Hmmmm....:)

I think the plan will revolve around people coming by train meeting up at Reading station (and possibly having brunch together) and one of my friends (who knows Reading, and is confusingly called "Nic") guiding everyone to the cinema (5-10 minutes walk). At which point Nick and I and other car-going persons will load some of people's stuff into cars so they're not burdened with it in the cinema.

After the film it'll be another walk to the station and then train to Thatcham, followed by a mixture of shared taxis and the drivers giving people lifts to our house.

So, kind of hassley I'm afraid, but I hope worth it. :-) We'll send lots more details nearer the time, and asking permission to send various people photos of each other so that there's no stress over the meet-up at Reading station.

Didnt know you played piano! I picked up some guitar tab for the Buffy musical and had a tinker with that, its quite good.

Being a 'girl-geek' is cool, im the same here, liking and collecting a whole lot of weird stuff. when i was a wee girl i used to collect dead bugs of all sorts and catagorise them and stuff. still got some animals bones and teefs that i found while out on walks etc :)

Batman the musical?! Sounds cool! Slightly bizzare but cool! Although I have a grude against Tim Burton for making me endure the 2 hours of complete trash that was his remake of Planet of the Apes. Grr...

Hee!

I sing kareoke style to ALL my music. It's fun!

The music wasn't in a regular music shop, I found it in Forbidden Planet (the very last one too, had to get the display copy), so you might want to try a comic shop or maybe a big bookstore like Waterstones, and look in the Sci-fi section.

I haven't seen Burton's Planet of the Apes, because I'm afraid if I do I'll stop loving him. *laughs* :)

I play the piano very ill indeed, just enough to let me rehearse my songs at home but that's about it. I had lessons from age 7-12, and got up to Grade 5, but I quit because I hated praticing so much. I have now almost forgotten everything I learned, and I regret ever having stopped. *kicks self hard* ;-)

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments about my journal! *does the Happy Nevvie dance* :D

I used to collect fossils when I was little, because I wanted to be a palentologist more than anything in the world. I still have some 60 million year old trilobites and bits of dinosaur teeth inna box somewhere. I still love collecting things, but now its usually related to my 'obsession of the moment' instead of something more worthy like dinosaur bits. *giggles*
