Happy happy joy joy!

I received the best present in the entire world yesterday, an enormous package from [livejournal.com profile] eyre_lasgalen and [livejournal.com profile] wreibyn! Wheeeeee!
They sent me loads of Canadian goodies, like chocolates and egg nog and Moose beer and all kinds of fun things! I love them so veryveryvery much. :))
Also picked up the package from [livejournal.com profile] airemay, although I can't find the scissors so I haven't been able to open it yet. Will let you know what's inside tomorrow. *grins* (Hopefully it isn't anything that will want to claw its way out before then. ;-)

Had a delightful conversation with [livejournal.com profile] chrystimd tonight, it's so good to know that even though she's left LiveJournal she'll still be around to tease me and paint my toenails. *loves her muchly* And she coined a new term just for me -- 'Nevvieshivvers' -- which is what she feels whenever I give her my *special* look. Bwahahahaha. *laughs*
And [livejournal.com profile] trianne is back! Yayyy! I missed Trinny so much, if she ever leaves LJ like that again I shall have to flog her 30 times with a spork. Of course, she'll enjoy every minute of it, so it really wouldn't be much of a punishment. *grins*

Today we had SNOW! Snowwww. *bounces* Most of you may not think this is a big deal, but anything that isn't cold, sludgy rain is a blessing in my book. *G*
Snow always reminds me of two things: the first is watching White Christmas with mum every year on Christmas Eve, because there's a song in it that is all about snow. It's not a great film, but it does have the wonderful Danny Kaye in it. Does anyone else know him? I suppose he would be best known to my generation from a guest appearance on The Cosby Show as a wacky dentist with Muppet assistants. He was such an amazing man, so talented and genuinely kind-hearted, they really don't make people like him anymore. Ai, I'm waffling again. *giggles* The other thing I always associate with snow is my first term at university, when I had my first real experience with the fluffy white stuff. I built my first snowman, made my first snow angel, had my first snowball fight. One of my fondest memories of Sarah Lawrence is sliding around with my housemate Danny on the tiny frozen pond outside our dorm, and pretending to be Olympic figure skaters. What fun we had! So that's why I like snow. :)

Welcome, welcome [livejournal.com profile] arisi to my humble abode. Emergency exits are located here (*points*) and here (*points*), should you need to escape from the journal your webrowser may be used as a floatational device. *giggles* :)

I'm off to bed as I am a very sleepy monkey. I honestly don't know how I manage to survive with such crippling insomnia -- isn't it supposed to make you go insane? :) (Muahahahahahahahahaaa! *evil cackle* ;-)

Danny Kaye is great! Okay, I haven't seen that many of his movies, but The Court Jester is hands-down my favorite.

My mom actually met him (here in the States) because one time she was taking a Chinese cooking class, and he was a good friend of the lady who taught it. Apparently he'd crash classes and dinners, and he always insisted that they have something chocolate for dessert!

the first is watching White Christmas with mum every year on Christmas Eve, because there's a song in it that is all about snow.

Watching this is traditional for my family too. Mom always has to play Bing Crosby (a lot) during Christmas time. They were here over Christmas and we saw snow-capped hills in the distance whilst driving, so we all had to sing the "Snow" song. Actually we mostly stick to the 4 part "snow... snow... snow... snow!" bit at the beginning because it's usually all we can remember. Just one of my family's odd inside joke things. :)

You went to Sarah Lawrence? An old friend of mine went there, a few, actually, but one in particular I remember. Interesting school, it served her well.

Yay! Cour Jester rocks! It is such a neat movie. I can't get enough of the snapping fingers scene. I also liked Hans Christian Anderson with his version of the ugly duckling song.

Anyhow, here's hoping all of you find plenty of time to do the things you enjoy, and little to do the things you don't.

I love you and your nifty silly birthday card, so there. *hugs*

I like snow. I want snow! There's no snow out here. It's Colorado in January for heaven's sake, we should be swimming in the stuff, so why is it sunny and warm? So miffed am I.

I miss SLC. Sigh.

Moose beer?!?

Yesterday somebody said 'it looks like snow' and I burst into a one person rendition of that song! It wasn't very succesful but it seemed to amuse the rest of the room!

I love Danny Kaye! Actually when I was about 7 I was in love with Danny Kaye becuase of the film Hans Christian Anderson. I even had the songs on tape. They're probably still around somewhere...

Your icon still cracks me up. *giggles*

I am absolutely stunned that so many people a) know that song, and b) love Danny Kaye! Wasn't he just the sweetest in HCA? So huggable. Mmmm. :)
(Too bad the real Hans wasn't nearly so adorable and hated children. :)
