hm. I'm almost entirely new to HP slash, but I must say that H/D appeals to me. At first I felt the same way -- that the pairing made absolutely no sense. But I'm in the middle of a fic that's changed my mind.
It has to be well done, though. The author has to give a plausible reason *why* Draco, who is so one-dimensionally evil in the canon, would be appealing to and attracted to Harry. The fics I've seen that are successful in this generally set the time as a few years after canon, which gives both characters time to mature emotionally. Also, Draco is generally depicted as having gone through some sort of worldview-changing experience.
