neverwhere: (Default)
Guess what everyone!
A gentleman fought for my honour today! Want to know more? Then read on MacDuff! : )

Today Aly, Kara and I went to the Tower of London. First though we walked from Waterloo station to the Globe theatre, to purchase our tickets for their spectacular production of Twelth Night next week. Unfortunately, all they had left were standing only, so we'll have to be on our feet for the 3 hour production, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I've seen Twelth Night 6 times before, and every time it was done in a completly different style -- I've seen it set in the Caribbean, Edwardian times, even as Alice in Wonderland (Viola = Alice, Malvolio = a most excellent White Rabbit, etc), but I've never seen it performed in Tudor style. The Globe's new production is very traditionalist, complete with an all male cast. It's supposed to be marvelous, and I can't wait to see it.

We then walked up Blackfriars bridge and wandered about in the City for a while, before catching a bus to Tower Hill. I had been to the Tower once before, but it was with my mum, so I didn't really appreciate it as much as I did today. We spent *5 hours* there, walking around, exploring the exhibits and listening to the Beefeaters tell the history of this infamous palace. The best part of the day for me, however, was when we saw the Historical recreation in front of the White Tower -- the first part was a 13th century knight getting dressed for battle, describing all the various bits of protection and armour he would need to wear and what purpose it served. The next was an Elizabethan swordfighting demonstration, done by the same two people. Now, one of these people was a man named Tristan, and he was absolutely, unbelieveably gorgeous. *grins* I couldn't take my eyes off him, he was so incredibly cute! I could have oogled him all day. *laughs* After the first demonstration was over, we waited around to see the next one, a half hour later. I couldn't wait to see Tristan (and boy do I love that name ;-) fight! I know this it totally shallow of me, and I should have been learning about the wonders and mysteries of the Tower, but I was, honestly! I knew most of the history already, and was there to accompany Aly and Kara and have fun more than anything else. And believe me, watching Tristan was ALOT of fun. *grins* I was in the front row for the Renaissance fighting demonstration, and was the only one to say 'Good afternoon!' back to the lads when they welcomed us to the show, which I'm sure they appreciated. They did their fighting routine, and then did it over again very slowly, explaing all the different moves and fighting styles. I felt really smug because I already knew most of what they were talking about from my Stage Combat lessons, but it was still great fun to watch. Suddenly they both stopped fighting and asked each other --' What exactly are we fighting for anyway?' And then they both turned and looked right at me, and said ' HER!' Woohooo! Tristan, the supercute one remember, said that he would fight for my honour and defend me from the vicious rogue Andy. I grinned and said 'Thank you kind sir!' And then I said, only slightly quieter, 'It's about bloody time!' *giggles* Go me! Unfortunately, the outcome of the fight was that they both died, but hey, they still fought over me! I know it's not much, but I still think it's soooooo cool. And in my imagination they will be real knights, just and true, dueling for the honour to wear my token into battle. *dreamy sigh*
I've always wanted a man to fight for my honour. And in a small way, my dream came true today. :)

So that was my day. I'm absolutely exhausted. *collapses* But at least I had alot of fun. :)
