Happy Samhain!
Nov. 1st, 2002 12:41 amIt was Halloween today, but I didn't do anything to celebrate. I haven't in ages -- I can't remember the last time I got dressed up, even though I love doing it. I guess I'm too old for trick or treating, and I don't know anyone so I can't go to a party...Ah well. I suppose it doesn't matter, at least not today, because I did something just as fun...
I saw Michael Palin! Wheeeeee!
He lectured for about an hour and a half, talking in detail about his Sahara adventure, then did a brief question and answer session as he was running over time, then the signing. He was even cuter than the last time I saw him 5 years ago (if you can believe it), and just as delightfully whimsical, so charming and entertaining; he really made all 600 people in the audience feel like he was talking only to them, sharing a mischievous little secret between best friends. It was just marvellous. The queue for the signing wasn't very long, as most of the people in the lecture decided not to wait (silly blighters). I had a wonderful question all prepared in my head, planning exactly what to say so I wouldn't freeze up like I usually do -- that's right, I get SHY -- but of course as soon as I was in front of him I started my usual routine of grinning like a madwoman and making squeeee-ing noises, not saying anything, or at least nothing coherent. He signed my first edition Sahara book and a blown up copy of the picture I had taken with him on the Full Circle tour (I posted it before I think), which he liked very much, as I'm sure he doesn't sign very many personal photographs like that, and change is always good. I had another picture taken with him (he held up the photo, so now I'll have double the Palin-goodness in it ;-) and then had to leave.
So that was my Palin Adventure. *grins*
In other news....I finally bought a new winter coat! Hurrah! The saga is ended at last. *giggles*
It's a long, black pea coat that comes down to my ankles and makes me feel like a Bolshevik soldier in it. I think it's the way the buttons and collar are made, it looks quite militaristic. But also a bit vintage and cool. Its much too long, and I keep tripping on it, but who cares! Its warm, comfortable and makes me feel good. Thats all a girl needs. :)
I need tickets to see Sean Bean in Macbeth! And Gillian Anderson in some play that opens next week! *laughs*
Anyone want to come with me? Assuming I can get the tickets o'course. ;-)
*yawn* Listening to your idol yabbering on for a few hours really wears you out. *laughs* Goodnight! :)
