Apr. 15th, 2004 07:00 pmGreetings and salutations!
After some silly whinging about in friendslocked entries, I have once again decided to be a public figure again, and stop worrying about other people's opinions, especially regarding any supposed boringness I may seem to inflict on their friendspage. *I* think I'm brilliant, and so should you. So there. *grins impishly*
Let's see, things that have happened recently...
On 14 April Adrien Brody celebrated his 31st birthday. And my father celebrated his 61st. The cosmic signifance of these facts is too extraordinary to be denied. Bwahahahaha. ;-)
I finally saw Weird Al's film 'UHF', which had some outstandingly silly moments, and some shockingly dull ones. I still love the 'Wheel of Fish' and 'Conan the Librarian'. I would watch those shows every week. *giggles*
Poor Al's parents died this week. As he said on his website, at least they never knew a life without each other, and that's something to be thankful for. We should all be so lucky to be with the one we love at the end of all things.
Am very disappointed with the final issue of 1602. No spoilers, just...ennui. Oh, it's a lovely ending, and the only way it could end, there are just so many unresolved elements, and while this usually means there might be a sequel, we know in this case that won't happen. I still enjoyed the series very much, I just wanted a bit more. Not that I could ever stop loving Neil of course. *blissful sigh*
I've been reading a great many books the past weeks, most of which I've enjoyed. I finally read the first book in Anne McCaffrey's 'Dragons of Pern' series, and finished volume one of 'The Chronicles of Chrestomanci' by Dianna Wynne Jones in one sitting. I also read 'Mirror Mirror' by Gregory Maguire, which once again was rather unfulfilling and not at all up to the hype his books seem to generate. I feel like I should adore Maguire's work, because he has made one of my favourite genres respectable and popular, but so far I just haven't enjoyed any of his books. 'Lost' was so dull I couldn't stand to read more than 50 pages, 'Wicked' was intriguing, but he seemed to devote so much energy into making Elphaba 'normal' that she became an unspeakably bland protagonist. 'Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister' was the most interesting, but even that wasn't a terribly good read. Anyway. I've also finished 'Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal', Garth Nix's 'Abhorsen' trilogy, and 'Lancaster and York' by Alison Weir. I love being a booktard. *G*
Can you spot the Nevvie in this photo taken from the stage by Bruce Hopkins at the TORN Oscar party? This was at the end of the evening and I had moved a bit further back from where I had been earlier, when Peter and Billy and everyone had been there, but at least you can see I was still very close to the stage. Wooohooo!
Oooh, speaking of the party, I finally have a photo of my dress. And perhaps a few other things...
( I am a vision in violet ;- )
And now, since I have nothing more to say, I shall go watch Jeopardy and laugh merrily as I answer all the questions correctly. Go me. *gigglegrin*
