Hello hello everyone!

That's right, Nevvie is back and better than ever! Well, I'm back home anyway. *grins*

I had a terrific time up north on the Isle of Arran, the details of which I shall be describing forthwith. First though I just wanted to give everyone a great big hug, and hope that they didn't miss me too much. ;-)
Actually, I had to read through over *500* LJ entries today (and that's not including communities -- how on earth can you people write so damn much!) and not a single one of you mentioned me. How rude! I certainly expected at least one mention from all of you about how much you were pining for me. I think I may have to engage pout mode now...;-) *giggles and pounces on everyone for supersquishyhugs!*

[livejournal.com profile] shiveringjemmy...I hope your parents are okay now. Do call me if you need to talk, okay? *holds you tight*
[livejournal.com profile] chrystimd...What's wrong my love? You seem so sad lately. Please tell me what I can do to cheer you up, you're far too special to be so unhappy.
[livejournal.com profile] eyre_lasgalen...Babes! Have I told you about the new community you need to join? Show your love for the [livejournal.com profile] geekyboys! :D
[livejournal.com profile] dinnee...Boo! *grins and tickles you happily*

Ooooh I just watched Buffy and saw Xander do the Snoopy dance! Squeeeeee! Gotta love that adorable geekyboy. :))

Anyway, here's the good stuff -- a day by day account of my trip to Scotland.

Sunday: Did not sleep well at all. Woke up at 5am after a fitful 30 or 40 minutes of sleep. Had to leave extra early to catch the only ferry to the island on a sunday, so I was not in the best spirits when we hit the road at 6am. Drive up with other performers, and I get stuck in the backseat of the smallest car in the world, hurrah! The drive actually seems to pass rather quickly, and isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, except for the appalling music I was forced to listen to, ugh. Take the ferry over to the Isle of Arran and discover that it is an astonishingly beautiful place. High rolling hills, green, fertile valleys, a rocky coastline with picturesque lighthouses and harbour seals. Marvelous. Already feel better about coming now. We are housed in two small but luxuriously modern houses directly opposite the sea, with a most spectactular view from every window. Fell asleep easily in comfy bed. Think I'm going to like it here after all.

Monday: What a day!
Wake up at 7am and have leisurely breakfast before rehersal. It is an astoundingly beautiful day, with the most perfect temperature imaginable. Rehearsal goes well, am v.pleased. Afterwards we all decide to drive around the island and explore. We drive for about three hours, taking pictures of the gorgeous scenery, especially the seals and the wild deer, and have a good time. Come back home after exploring some of the local shops and relax. Decided to read a book outside and enjoy the setting sun and the sea breeze. After dinner we all go down the road to the pub, where a local folk group will be playing. Remain at pub for 4 hours just listening, singing along and cheering at the terrific Irish and Scottish folk tunes. I think I scared some of the patrons with my boundless enthusiasm, but that didn't stop me from having a good time. And it didn't stop one man from coming over to talk to me. He had sung a few tunes with his guitar earlier in the evening (anyone could join in and sing a song if they liked), and I thought he was rather cute, so I was more than a little stunned when he came over and sat next to me at the bar. He introduced himself, we tried to talk, but as it was very noisy chat was difficult, but it was obvious (even to someone as socially inept as me) that he was trying to chat me up. Now, believe me when I tell you that I have never been chatted up in my entire life. Ever. So I was stunned. I was dubious. I thought it was a joke. Then I realized he was drunk. *laughs* He promised it wasn't the drink talking, and that he really did think I was interesting and (gasp!) cute. He begged me to stay and talk to him when everyone else wanted to go home, and I should have done, but of course I didn't, and went home at the same time as the others. It was SO flattering, even if he was a little (okay, alot) squiffy, because it's never happened to me before. And he was very cute. :)

Tuesday: An unfortunately dull day (well, everything would be dull next to the excitment of the previous night), with nothing much done except rehearsal and a nap in the afternoon. We were all too tired to explore the island, so we went to bed early. See? Very dull. *G*

Wednesday: Another beautiful day, so we pile in the tiny car and see the rest of the island. It takes about 3-4 hours to go around it, and we stopped alot to look at interesting sites on the way (including the cheese and creamery!) -- and it wasn't as if we didn't have alot of time to kill. In the evening a few of us went to a different pub a few miles away to see the folk group again, and we had another brilliant night singing along (and even doing some dancing) with the band. Saw cute boy from Liverpool again, but he seemed distracted, and I wasn't even sure if he remembered me, and even if did, whether he'd regret coming on to me in his drunken stupor. He did smile at me though. We stayed at the pub until 1.30am chatting with the guys in the band and a really nice waitress who had sung a few songs as well. Went to bed very happy indeed.

Thursday: Rehearsal goes badly, but oh well. Potter off to Brodick Castle, and spend lots of time wandering around the lovely grounds -- I especially enjoyed the Secret Garden-esque gate that led into a particuarly beautiful section of flowers and greenery. Ate dinner and watched Gosford Park, which I still can't decide if I really liked it or not. I enjoyed it, but I think I felt faintly dissastisfied with the overall experience. Perhaps I'm just expecting too much from a film. They all can't achieve the perfection of The Lord of the Rings after all. ;-)

Friday: Dress rehearsal is a terrible mess, try not to get too nervous and tell myself that its only a local show, it's not like any agents are going to be there or anything. Sleep in the afternoon (its raining, yuck) and almost don't wake up in time to get ready. Well, the show was a success, I know *I* sang everything beautifully, and I even remembered a few of my dance moves, but our audience was non-existant. We had lots of publicity on and off the island (we were even in the Glasgow papers) but hardly anyone came. Ah well. At least I sounded good. *grins* And I did have a good mini-holiday.

Saturday: One last tour around the island, this time stopping at the distillery for a taste of the local tipple. As I'm sure most of you know, I don't drink, and I hate whisky, but the tour was actually rather interesting, which surprised me alot. I bought presents of whiskey and other alcoholic delights for friends and relatives, and as I'm told that Arran whisky is a rare treat and greatly desired, I'm sure they'll like it very much. Also made a last trip round the Arran speciality shops, and spent FAR too much money buying locally produced jams, sauces, cheeses and other delicious things, and even more money buying presents at the Arran Aromatics boutique (all natural, handmade, not tested on animals) for just about everyone I know. But I'm sure they'll like it these one of a kind gifts. :)
Ate chinese food (from the only take away on the island) for dinner and fell asleep. Snoooze.

Sunday: Up at 8am, not at all pleased about the long haul back to London. Get on the ferry at 11am, and am suprised to find cute Liverpudlian boy is not only on the same ferry, but his car is parked right next to us. Fate, it would seem, wanted us to have a proper goodbye. *grins* We talked for the hour long journey back to the mainland, not about anything in particular, but it was nice just having someone to talk to. We petted his adorable dog Glen alot, and took him for walkies around the ship, although not outside as it was raining so badly the wind would have knocked him into the sea. I gave him my email address, and said goodbye. Tried to ignore all the sniggering from the others in the car about whether or not we snogged or some such childish things. Why can't men and women just be friends anymore! Sheesh.
Spent *14* hours in the cramped backseat of mini-car (s'not a car, its an oversized tricycle), could not believe how long it took to get back to London. I could have flown out to California in the same amount of time! Gah. Nearly wept with happiness on entering my house and flopping down on my comfy bed.
The End.

So that was Nevvie's Scottish Adventure. Hope you all enjoyed reading it! :)

It's great to be home!
