Oct. 17th, 2002 10:48 pmLadies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention for an important announcement.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome the 100th person to add me as a friend here on Live Journal. Please raise your glasses high for
lady_idril!
Wooohooooooooooo! *applauds and cheers* :D
Gosh, don't I just feel special. :))
Please forgive me for not updating these past few days, I've been extraordinarily busy (and stressed!) -- coming home late at night from a hard day's rehearsal makes this ickle Hobbit very sleepy, wanting nothing more than to crawl into bed and not think about having to get up the next day at 5am (*groan*).
*passes out brownies and cupcakes to make it up to you* *hugs for all*
So I went to the xXx premiere thingy on monday night with
shiveringjemmy. What an experience that was. Aqui had been standing outside the Odeon cinema all day, something which I admire her utterly for, as I barely have the strength to stand in one place for an hour. I arrived at about 5pm-ish, and was rather surprised to see that she had scored a terrific position directly in front of the main entrance, which I suppose is why she wanted to wait there all damn day. *G* Everything was fine for a while, until the crowds started showing up; they were so obnoxious I was ready to leave. The worst were these two Scottish girls who were directly behind me and to the left, they kept pushing me forward and scrunching my sides, until at one point I was literally bent in half because the girl behind was leaning on me so hard, and I could barely breathe. They were hurting Aqui too, and no matter how hard we both tried to push them back they kept hurting us. GAH! Some people are so rude. ANYway. The premiere itself was a major disappointment in terms of celebrities. No one of any consequence showed up, just a few minor British soap stars and members of R&B groups. The only people I recognized were Dane Bowers, Rik Mayall, Liberty X and Gavin Rossdale (the extremely cute singer from Bush). Not exactly impressive, is it.
Oh, there was a rather amusing moment, when some woman strolled over to the press and lifted up her dress to show off her g-string. From many different angles. *laughs* I swear she was there for 5 minutes, just showing off her arse. Sheeesh. She got booed from the crowd quite a bit, with lots of shouts of 'skank!' thrown in her direction. I'd say 'poor girl' but honestly, she deserved it carrying on like she did.
Finally the man of the hour arrived, Mr Vin Diesel. I have to be honest and say that I was not excited about seeing him. I was excited for Aqui, because she likes her Vin puppy so much, but I could have cared less. However...Oh my god, does he have the CUTEST smile! Aiii! I never in a million years would have believed it, he always looks so surly and butch in publicity photos, certainly nothing like the sweet, almost geekycute man I saw grinning at his fans. So while I'm not exactly a Vinwhore now, I can appreciate him alot more than I did before. *grins*
Tomorrow night I have to sing and dance in a barn. Yeehaaaa. *giggles*
Everyone PLEASE wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it to remember my lines for a song I loathe. Ugh.
Random thought of the day: Am very impressed with Disney's Hercules animated series. Not only did they get James Woods to once again play the brilliant baddie, but they've really researched their myths and greek history too. Watched an episode where Herc visits the Norse gods, and they gave a rather good, easy for children to understand version of Ragnarok-- okay, so Hercules didn't imprision Loki or anything, but I can live with that small detail. *grins* Most impressive of all (to me anyway) was that Hades called Zeus' outfit a chiton -- not a toga, but a chiton, the proper word for his particular item of clothing. Someone really did their homework for that one. *G*
Well, I should really go now and work on my songs for tomorrow. Goodnight everyone! *squishes* :)

Date: 2002-10-17 09:56 pm (UTC)good luck with the dancing! I am at a roller dance competition this weekend, I will be needing all the luck I can get too... hehehe.
Oh and - I don't really remember Hercules, though I think I saw it when it came out... I would probably get very narked by their alterations though (studying classics here)
Oh and... I dunno... fluffy songs about murder and mayhem... maybe we should see what we can do on that front ;) (Tom Lehrer's song Oedipus Rex, anyone?)
He loved his mother like no other -- his daughter was his sister and his son was his brother...
Date: 2002-10-19 03:00 am (UTC)Squeee! I LOVE TOM LEHER!!!! *bouncebounce* :D
And strangely enough, I sang two of his songs last night, Bright College Days and Fight Fiercely Harvard. Not his best (bring on the Masochism Tango!) but any TL is good for me. *grins*
And yes, you are very special indeed m'lady! *squish* :)

Buy her candy or some flowers,
Or a brand new hat.
But maybe you had better let it go at that."
;)
and ohh yes... Masochism Tango is great! I am actually most upset just now... I had An Evening (Wasted) With Tom Lehrer on LP at my dad's and he appears to have thrown it out 'because it was so old'. grr, I'd better be able to find it on CD somewhere...
I'm impressed. In all my travels I have met only 3 other people who know TL *grins* and one of those is my mother, who intrduced me to his music when I asked what she was on about when she started singing "we'll all go together when we go"... hehe.

Date: 2002-10-20 02:52 am (UTC)I know, I never meet people who know TL. My father is the only person in my aquantaince who likes him, except now of course I know you do as well. YEAH!
*spins you around singing the Irish Ballad and laughing merrily* :D
