Sometimes I wonder why I bother writing in my journal at all. It seems like no one is reading it anymore, so what's the point?

No, that's probably just me being selfish and craving more attention, with a bit of worry that my friends don't like what I have to say anymore thrown in. I guess I'm just being paranoid. Bah. Nevermind, back to our orginally scheduled programming... :)

I'm re-learning the piano, hurrah! I took lessons when I was younger, and got up to Grade 5 (which is pretty good, thank you very much), but quit when I was 12 because I couldn't be bothered to practice anymore. Now, of course, I wish I hadn't been so lazy and continued my lessons, so I could actually play with grace and ease, instead of floundering around the scales like I am now. I'm not terrible, but I'm certainly nowhere near as good as I once was. [livejournal.com profile] ashfae has seen me stumble around the keys, and I think she probably laughed (quietly, and with affection ;-) at my rather futile attempts to play. But no more shall I be useless! I intend to make some extra money giving singing lessons, so I had better know my way around the piano a damn sight better than I do now. Wish me luck! :)

I read the most amazing thing in the paper this morning -- a 12 year old boy saved the life of his brother by pushing him out of the way of a falling tree during the massive wind storms we had in the UK this weekend. He was crushed by the tree, but his 16 year old brother survived with only minor bruises. Absolutely unbelievable. My faith in the goodness of humanity has been restored. :)

I hate the new Two Towers poster. Ugh. I like the continuity of the muted colour scheme, but everyone looks horrible in it, and there's NO PIPPIN! Where has my baby gone?! Have they decided to cut him out of the film and not told anyone yet? *shudders at the thought* Oh, and XenArwen must burn. Buuuurn.

New friends are such wonderful things, aren't they? Please say hello to fellow not-quite-Londoner [livejournal.com profile] o0hugsnkisses0o! Whooot!

Finally found what seems to be a decent Harry Potter community on LiveJournal -- thanks [livejournal.com profile] caersidi for pointing me towards [livejournal.com profile] sane_potter. *hugs*

I was thinking I should start my own community, but for what? I so many interests and silly things that I'm passionate about, so where to begin? Any suggestions? :)

*yawn* I am now a sleepy Nevvie, so I shall bid you all a fond goodnight. Goodnight! :)

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Hehehe thanks! I am rather amazing, aren't I. *smug grin* ;-)

[identity profile] wreibyn.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
i was going to take up pianon when i had some extra cash for lessons... i'm still broke.. :(

soon, though, very soon.... i even bought myself a book a while back so i could read through it and practice... ehhh well... some day... when i have room for a piano, and the extra cash to buy one... :)

then i'll get you to come and give me lessons... :)

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)

And I'll charge you 30 quid an hour -- special 'skank' fee. *smirks* :-P

[identity profile] chrystimd.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I read your journal, you nut. I also quit taking piano too soon, but I'm living vicariously through my daughter now, letting her take the lessons, it's much less work. Hee!

Now you straighten up and fly right! No more feeling sorry for yourself, it dampens the ether into something more like a fog. Ick.

Love you!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)

Yes, ma'am! *salutes* ;-)

*hugs and berry smooches*

Of course we read you ... you're Nevvie!

[identity profile] alabastard.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I love all my instruments, I have a nice keyboard but now want a real piano and harpsichord. I am merely passable on them, but I play for the love of the music, to help in composition and to complement my singing. I have two guitas, one classical and one electric, a violin, an accordian (!), and am looking at cellos and percussion.

Re: Of course we read you ... you're Nevvie!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)

I wish I could play guitar, it would really be good to accompany my singing, but my fingers are too short and don't stretch wide enough to make even the simplest chords. Ah well.

Is that you in the picture? It's ever so sweet. :)

[identity profile] caersidi.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course we read you but you know a journal is for you too honey *hugs*

Will see you over at [livejournal.com profile] sane_potter

*nodnodnod* Yes! Remember that, Nev!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)

I know, I worry too much about other people's opinion of me, even when I'm supposed to be writing something that's all about me, for me.

I'm such a silly git sometimes. :)

[identity profile] mlfoley.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I read yer journal, ya doofus. :)

I suspect they didn't include Pippin because he was kidnapped by the Orcs, w/ Merry. Of course, they included Gandalf, but Ian probably has a contract that says hes' on everything they make. ;)

They had a special about HP on Oprah today, I thought of you whilst watching it. The new movie looks pretty good, from the scenes they showed. It was mainly an audiance of kids, but everyone seemed to really love the movie, and it was unanimous that it was better than the first. I can't wait!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Awwwww you thought about me, how delightfully sweet! *smooches* :)

I'm sure CoS will be better, even if Jason Isaacs is a rubbish Lucius Malfoy. *gag*

Only 10 comments on your last entry?

Oh the humanity!

That's...
That's...

More than I get in a month.

Geez : P Just 'cos we don't comment don't mean we're not reading.

*lol*

Thanks for sobering me up, wench. :-P

I know I know, I'm so ungreatful -- but when you've been up to 90, its only downhill from there...*grins*

I played piano from age 4 to 16, i did grade one then didn't do any for years, but before i stopped lessons my teacher thought i was good enough for grade 5.
I want to go back to lessons as soon as I can afford to and i want to get a piano - but i'll be living in a flat so it'll have to be a clavinova or something that i can take legs off and transport and put in cornor of room easily.

I also want to learn the cello and oboe too.

Are you going to come to the next watgoths pub meet at the flag on Tues 5th Nov? We'll be flashing whitby photo's and all that :-)

Dance Calvin, dance!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)

Well, since I now have an 'official' invitation, how can I refuse! :D

Can I get there by train from Hatch End? I'm afraid I don't have a car.

[identity profile] silverowlwings.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
27 comments, and no one's reading your journal? Who drugged your tea? *winks* I love you, and so does everyone else! :D

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)

*LOL*

I feel like SUCH an attention seeking loser. *hangs head in shame* ;-)

[identity profile] chicanerys-muse.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankly, I was going to make a comment about how I do read your journal, I am just bad at commenting...
But then I saw you had a ton of other comments.. So I decided not to..;P

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)

*giggles*

Thanks for not commenting. ;-) *squishes*

~feels Nevvie has already been thuroughly repremanded for her comment on comments~

Are you studying only classical piano, or are you also doing jazz piano? If you aren't, I strongly advise you take up jazz piano-- it helps improve your classical abilities and is a lot more fun to practice, IMHO

[identity profile] eyre-lasgalen.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ummm.......I don't often post here cause I figure that with 30+ responses, you won't even notice that I was here!

But you can bet your biddy that I read it all the time!

Cheers!!!!!!

Nevvie! What are you talking about??? OF COURSE we read your journal! Humpf!

And I don't like the TTT poster, either. Aren't they using the same old Gimli picture with the axe? AND WERE'S BILLEH??? Bah! And Arwen - ugh! Die, Arwen, die! *queue techo music* Bitch, bitch, bitchbitch, ho!!!

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)

*joins in the Bitch dance* Bitchbitchbitchbitchdiebitchdie! *dances around merrily sticking pins into a XenArwen doll* :D

And NO BILLEH! How could they do that to us! *sobs* They're probably just mad because he's off making a film with Russell Crowe. Yeah, that must be it...;-)

[identity profile] ashfae.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ashfae has seen me stumble around the keys, and I think she probably laughed (quietly, and with affection ;-) at my rather futile attempts to play.

Did not, you know I wouldn't laugh at something like that. *hugs* *gryns* Yay for you and your piano lessons, say I.

*grins and says hello back.... or waves it, which was what was originally typed*

And yay! Harry Potter. Once again managed to get preview tickets so I should be going to see it on the 10th or something wonderful.

And then the FOTR DVD.

And then Macbeth.

And then TT *squees*

Oh yeah, and Christmas, that too.

(And then Tolkiens birthday and then my birthday and than Orli's birthday and then Lij's birthday and then...)

~Hnk

*HUGS*

I always read your journal, I just don't comment much. Sorry. I'd miss it terribly if you went away.

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)

*blushes*

Thank you, that's ever so sweet of you to say. :)))

...too tired to think of a witty subject...

[identity profile] lady-aquila.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
I used to play the flute when I was a kid... well, sort of..! I was always too lazy to do my homework ( I did all of my "real school" homework, though! ) and I never managed to learn the... uhm.. well... the little squiggles that are supposed to tell you what notes to play! I listened to the teacher play and memorized the tune instead. After a year and a half I quit. Now I wish I hadn't, but I lack the self-discipline to start again. I love singing and dancing, though!

On to a question: What do you people have against Arwen? OK, both in the book and the movie she's nothing but a device to flesh out Aragorn's character some more, but why burn the poor lass?! It's not her fault that poor JRRT didn't know squat about women and that somebody has tried to "modernize" the story by giving her a bigger part ( not very successfully, I might add, but then, they can't re-write the story )..!

*thinks for a moment* But if you burn Arwen... Aragorn will be free, won't he... *whine whine drool* ;-)

[identity profile] queeniefox.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee hee, I got very excited today becuase two people replied to one of my entries!I don't think you have much to worry about :)

I started learning the piano when I was about 13 which was really too late. It's so much harder to learn stuff when you get older. I stopped for a while but got a new and much better teacher last year. I'm currently doing Grade 5, gah, scales are a pig aren't they?

[identity profile] angelislington.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)

I HATE SCALES! Gahhh. All that bloody useless repetition, and I still can never figure out the correct fingering for every key. *kicks them*
