What a fantastic day. :)
After arriving a bit later than I had intended in Leicester Square, I met the adorable
queeniefox, who was with her friend Rachel. Queenie is so sweet and pretty, and was wearing a wicked hat. *grins* They held a place towards the beginning of the line of barriers, next to a group of people dressed up as LOTR characters -- a passable Frodo, a slimey Aragorn and rather hideous Legolas. I wish I could have dressed up too (they got filmed by every camera crew!), but I couldn't go to a play dressed as a Hobbit. (Drat.) Plus it was bloody freezing!! Queenie and her friend had little squeezable hand warmer thingies, which they never let go of it was so damn cold. But it was all worth it because they got to see Billehhhhhhhhh and Dom and everyone, and even talked to PJ about the film! Lucky sods. :)
While I was with Queenie I spotted
trianne on the other side of barriers, so I went over and introduced myself, and spent the rest of the time going back and forth visiting her and Queenie. Trianne was with new friend
hjartad, and was rather surprised that I could find her in such a crowd, but luckily dearest
chrystimd had sent me her picture the night before, and her smile was so bright I would have spotted it a mile away. *G* I was so pleased to find her, I was worried we wouldn't be able to meet because she hadn't called me to set a meeting place, but it turns out she had been trying to call me, she just had the wrong number -- she kept getting a rather ugly old man on the ansaphone, which she really hoped wasn't me. To her relief she discovered it wasn't. *grins*
hjartad was ever so nice, and even let me look at her wonderful Billeh scrapbook, which had my favourite picture of my Crumpet in it, but although I was tempted I didn't run away with her book. ;-) She's a fellow Billeh addict and therefore extremely cool, and I'm pleased I met a new friend. *big squish!*
trianne...oh, what is there to be said about the wonderful, beautiful, incredibly scrumptious Trinny? I'm head over heels in love, she's just as brilliant as I could have imagined, and even more so, she's just utterly delightful in every way. :))
I only wish I could have spent more time with you, but alas, it was not meant to be. I am definately planning a trip to York soon (there are lots of LJ friends I expect to say hi when I do!) so we'll get together then. And maybe you can come down for Naked Gandalf day in january! *giggles*
I went back and forth visiting Queenie and Trinny a few times before I had to go -- if I didn't leave when I did, I wouldn't have been able to get out again, there were so many people crowded around the barriers it was a nightmare getting out as it was. I saw
shiveringjemmy early in the day in a prime place just in front of the doors of the cinema (I bet she took some great pictures), but although I shouted her name and called her mobile lots of times, she didn't see me. Well, she was with lots of other people, so I guess it's understandable she didn't notice. Hope she had a good time, and wasn't too squished by the end. I also missed seeing
o0hugsnkisses0o because I had left by the time she arrived, but we'll definately see each other another time. :) Was actually really disappointed/annoyed that I didn't meet up with any of the people from TheOneRing.Net or The Council of Elrond who said they were going, but ah well -- I met some fantastic people anyway. :)
I wandered around Covent Garden for a while, aimlessly browsing in shops for nothing in particular, although I did pick up the Lil Endless comic by Jill Thompson (I didn't realize it was out here already), which has the cutest illustrations and made me smile. Went to the Lyceum theatre at 7pm (just as Trinny was getting PJ's autograph no doubt ;-) and met the other people I was seeing the show with, and they gave me lots of sympathy for missing the premiere. We had great seats, front row balcony, and pretended not to mind that a gaggle of rowdy children were sitting behind us.
So. The Lion King. Everything you've heard about the spectacular opening is absolutely true. You don't think that puppets and masks can affect you so much, but my god, they really do -- my jaw hit the floor from the very start, and didn't come up until the end. Everything about the presentation is stunning, from the colourful, imaginative costumes to the movement of the puppets and their performers, it really is an awe inspiring show. If you ever have a chance to see it, don't think twice, GO. Some of the new songs aren't very good (there are two that are beautiful), but who cares? You go for the spectacle of it all, and you will not be disappointed. :)
Not a bad day, neh? *grins*

Hey, would you like me to make you some icons? I think you need some. *grins*

Date: 2002-12-12 01:52 pm (UTC)Glad you you enjoyed the show - I wish I had the time and mobey to get into London more often.
I didn't talk to P.J. I talked at him. My exact words were: 'You're absolutly fantastic mate, bloody marvellous!' *embarrased* My only excuse is that I was over excited and slightly spaced out through hunger!
The Legolas near us got on the TV so much. I think I missed us once actually, I looked up and they were showing that 'We love Hobbits' banner but it was over too quickly to look for us. That guy in the Gandalf suit was the presenter chap who was behind us earlier. Curiouser and curiouser.
Those blasted hand thingys - they were flippin useless otherwise we would have given you one. Mine stayed cold all evening until I got home at midnight when it got really really hot at burnt me. Useless.
Hee hee, I'm glad I wore that hat now!

Date: 2002-12-12 09:23 pm (UTC)By the way, my jaw is now hanging all over the floor because of the spectacularness of what you've experienced. OH MY WORD. 0_0;; <---(I swear I look just like this. Not even pupils are present. I'm so jealous!!!) ^_^
There's soon to be a premiere over here in Seattle in just a couple of days, but only one actor is going and NO ONE KNOWS WHO IT IS YET! >_<* I wish I knew, so I can figure whether or not to steal a car and drive madly downtown to see them or not. ^_^ And, that movie! It's so close, yet so far away! I just got the soundtrack two days ago, and I'm having jitters just to see it. ::about to explode::
Anyway, ^^, I'm glad you got to go! SO COOL! ^_^ And Happy Holidays to you! ^_^ ::tips hat::
