I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last update. I don't think I've ever gone for such a long time without writing. I hope you'll all forgive me, and that you didn't notice my absence too too much. *grins* (Did you even notice I was gone? What am I saying, of course you did -- how you managed to survive without your daily dose of Nevvie goodness is beyond me...;-)


I did have a reason for not writing, but I'd rather not go into it -- I had written a long, rather whingingly philosophical entry about it, but I don't really feel its necessary to discuss anymore. If you want to know, just PM me and ask. Suffice to say I'm feeling much better now, and more confident about myself and my abilities. I know I shouldn't let idle talk bother me so much, and trust me, I'm far less self-conscious and paranoid than I used to be, but I just can't seem to stop letting little things hurt me. But enough of this -- on with the gossip! *laughs*


Let's see, what fun and exciting things have happened to me recently?

• I had a wicked night out with Ru, Glis, Timmy and Xen. And no, I'm not going to tell you about it. *smirks*
  
  
• I saw The Two Towers at last. Unfortunately I had no one to squee with, and was wedged in a back corner surrounded by idiots who would not shut up during the entire film ('Is this one evil? He looks evil. Why does that guy have pointy ears again?') and had a most unpleasant viewing experience. But the film was wonderful, truly epic and awe inspiring. I will always prefer FOTR , as it makes me feel happy and at peace with myself like nothing has ever done before, but I still liked TT very much. Even though it did have way too much XenArwen, nowhere near enough Pippin (5 bloody minutes! Arrgh!) and Elves at Helms Deep, thus negating the whole 'time of Elves is over' thing. *G*
  
  
• Had lunch with mirabehn and evil_nick, who are both wonderfully friendly and utterly delightful. They are so cute together and great company too. I can't wait to see them again. :)
  
  
• Made some new LJ friends -- please say hello to artsy_freak, laizeohbeets, leiabelle and aebon!
  
  
• Had a rather unremarkable christmas, and received a few dvds and bookshop gift certificates and a new cashmere jumper. Wah hey. :)
  
  
• Stayed up till 5.30am talking with a friend about the Single Particle Theory in quantum physics, and whether or not humans will ever be able to conceive of anything beyond four dimensions (width, height, depth and time) and if not, will we ever truly understand how the universe works. And everyone thinks I'm such an airhead. *snorts* ;-)
  
  
• Fell utterly, head over heels in mad passionate crazy love with a cartoon character from a children's televisions series. I dream about him. I lust after him. I want to hold him and comfort him and tell him that there are good people in this world who care about him. I need him. Yes, my name is Nevvie, and I am addicted to the playful, mischievous blue elf known as Nightcrawler. *giggles*
  

That's all I can remember now. I'm sure there were a myriad of other things I was going to write about before, but I just can't think of any at the moment. :)


Someone please make me sleep. I haven't been to bed before the sunrises all damn week. Arrghh. I think I'll ask sillypants if her ravenous pizza beast would like to try vanquishing my dreaded insomnia, I'm sure it'd be a tasty treat. *grins*

A friend of mine is/used to be in love with Nightcrawler too. She's only read the comics, though ( I think ). Me, I only read one comic book and that's ElfQuest ( the aforementioned friend introduced me to it over 10 years ago ). Been checking out Bone; didn't think it was too great... Been thinking about Sandman but I have to find a Swedish library that owns them...

The last time we saw the film (3 times now) a group of girls were giggling and talking during the film and they were asked to leave by the staff. Asked isn't quite the right term. Bascially marched out after they ignored request to remain quiet.

had a fun experience like that when I went to see The Empire Strikes Back in the theatre. *rolls eyes* my dad had to actually grab at my arm to keep me from turning around and telling off this lady behind me because she was yacking through the whole movie and then was confused when she didn't understand what was going on.

I haven't seen the cartoon, but I was (and always will be!) madly in love with the Nigthcrawler of the original comics. I love my fuzzy elf! He goes BAMF! Wheee!

*snorts* indeed! And it doesn't surprise me in the least that you were talking particle physics. You come across - in your journal, and even more so in RealLife(TM) - as possessed of an extremely fine brain and a whopping helping of the intellectual curiosity to go with it. I think some people have trouble getting around the concept that fluffy people who go "wheeeeeee" and "bounce" a lot and are extremely nice and friendly, can also be deeply intelligent. Well, so much for them. We know better. *smughugs*

I had the same experience my second time seeing TTT. Some guy behind me was with someone who had obviously not seen FotR and was explaining everything to the other person thru the film. I wanted to scream at them! I'm sorry I couldn't be there to squee with you.

Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about insomnia......I don't know what you could do besides see a doctor. I don't know.

And....Oh, yes, something else that we have in common. Nightcrawler. I, too, have unnatural feelings towards this animated blue......um........whatever. I just feel so terrible for him, for everything that he faces. I used to read the Excallibur comic, just because I loved Nighty so much. I'm sure I have a Nighty action figure hanging aroudn somewhere......

I'm just doomed to have crushes on fictional characters, period. The first one was Robin Hood; I think I was some ten or eleven years old. Then it was Aragorn; I was twelve when I first read the books. To quote... whichever ElfQuest character it was ( Cutter? ) "All things come full circle!". After that, I think I actually fell in love with a character I'd made up myself. How pathetically narcissistic is that!?!?

Everybody here is sooo much politer than me. The second time I saw Two Towers there were two girls talking next to me. I probably wouldn't have minded if they'd been talking about the film but they weren't so I turned round and said 'are you going to talk through the whole movie becuase I have actually paid to watch it and not to listen to you.' My problem is that I simply do not think before I open my mouth. On the same occasion I also said something very rude about a particular advert which I hate with a passion without thinking that there were three 8 year olds in the row in front of me.
