[personal profile] neverwhere
Since I haven't updated in a while, let's catch up on the NevvieNews:

  • Had really unhappy performance last night, I could feel the audience being bored at me. Ugh. The worst offenders were the wankers in the front row, who would not stop scowling and looking utterly unimpressed -- wanted so desperately to stop singing and smack them, and possibly shout in their ear: 'If you're going to be in the front row, you better sodding well look INTERESTED dammit, I can't concentrate with you looking at me like that! ARRRGGHHH!' Or something to that effect. *G* I honestly don't think it's so wrong to ask that even if you hate a show, if you're going to be in the front row you could at least pretend to be enjoying yourself, so the actors don't feel like shit. Thanks, arseholes. *kicks them*

  • Bought CoS dvd, and once again wanted to hurl the bloody thing at the wall -- who thought that godawful menu system was a good idea?? It didn't work on the last dvd, and isn't working in this one. And whyyyyyyy are half of the 'special features' just rehashed scenes from the film!? If I want to see clips from the film, I'll just bloody well watch the film! SHEEESH!
Also. Chris Columbus is Potter Enemy #1. I can not believe some of the scenes he left out of the film. Was he on crack while editing it? He claims to want to remain faithful to the spirit of the books, and then he removes all the scenes which add moody atmosphere and a sense of menace (like the students whispering about Harry and especially the almost verbatim from the book scene at Borgin and Burkes -- I nearly cried when I saw that, it was SO GOOD!) and instead puts in that soppy shite at the end with Hagrid. GAH! Thank god he is not messing with my beloved Prisoner of Azkaban. I fear to think what he might have done with it.

  • Welcome new friends [livejournal.com profile] blythely, whom I think I'm going to meet at Collectormania next month (wheee!) and [livejournal.com profile] sparkyred, whom I don't know but we have oodles in common, so I'm sure we'll get on well. *grins*

  • I watched the most delightfully slashy Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode the other day. I hate to say it, but Miles and Julian really are so cute together. *giggles* And their discussion about how much time they spend together is utterly priceless: 'I love Keiko. I just like...you a bit more.' 'And I love Ezri. I just like you a bit more.' Awwww. Isn't that precious? :)

  • It's Adrien Brody's birthday! HURRAH! And, as further proof that I am indeed the coolest person in the world, it's also my father's birthday. Awwww yeahhh. *smug grin* :)

That's about it really. Did you miss me? :)

I currently have the very silly 'Happiness Pie' song from the Kids in the Hall movie Brain Candy stuck in my head. I wish the film hadn't flopped, I'd love to see more KitH craziness on the big screen. Or anywhere really. Besides, more geekycute Dave Foley is always good. *grins*

*big hugs for Esther because she's worried about her* I hope you're feeling better my love.

Edit: If you think you're having deja vu, you are -- I somehow accidently deleted this entry (please don't ask how, I really have no clue what button I pressed or why) and had to repost. But that doesn't mean you can't comment and tell me how much you luuuuuuurve me. *winks playfully* :)

I completely agree with you on CC's editing skills. ARGH. And why couldn't they have edited them in on the DVD, like good little moviemakers?

Craig Parker would have made such an amazing Lucious. Not that the current Lucious is bad, or anything. In fact, he looks incredibly like Craig. heh.

Ooooh Craig would have been a good choice for him. I always (desperatelydesperately) felt Richard E. Grant was the perfect man to play him, and was absolutely gutted when he wasn't cast. But I've grown to appreciate the merits of Jason Isaacs too. :)

Yes! Richard would have been perfect!

I'm not sharing the Jason Issacs love. There's overacting and then there's just being ridiculous.

awwwwwww *hugs* i'm sorry there were wankers in the front row looking utterly annoyed to be there.. next time let your mic fall down your pants and give them something to laugh at *giggles* i'm sure you did amazing and they just always have sour looks on their faces. ;)

Sorry you had a unhappy performance...stupid people in the front row! I know how you feel. :S

I think there should be an obligatory test when you enter a theatre -- 'Are you sitting in the front row?' 'Yes'. 'Do you plan on scowling and making the actors feel uncomfortable throughout the performance?' 'I was thinking about it, yes'. 'Then move to the back! GO NOW!'

Or something like that. *grins*

That scene in Borgin & Burkes... oh baby. The way that man wields that cane... I can almost forgive any Muggle torturing he's done. Oh, I don't even care about forgiving him. He's a bad, bad man and I want to punish him. ;)

You can get your own Malfoy sex-god over at Harry Potter and the Chamber of Icons.

Of course, the one you have now is pretty damn nice!

I'm very behind on my Harry Potter, I haven't checked out any of the deleted scenes (though I've only had the DVD for two days, so I suppose I have some excuse)...but now that you mention it I will have to! Grrr. I agree with you, I just hope that when they do 'Prisoner of Azkaban' they have the sense to get all of the good details right. That one is my favorite, and I would hate to see it butchered :(

I'm sorry you had a bad day :P There always seem to be a group of schmucks who will get the best tickets to anything and then complain and sulk about the show while the rest of the audience is loving it...maybe you had a bad front row, but I bet all of the rest of the rows thought you were fantastic ;)

*hugs*

Yeah, we received a decent amount of appreciative at the end, so it was mainly just the front that were so obnoxious. But they spoiled any enjoyment for the rest of us! Rawr.

PoA is my favourite (and it seems to be everyone elses too), I can't tell you how relieved I was when they announced the man who directed the brilliant A Little Princess film was going to take over. Now there's a man who knows what true magick is about. :)

There is indeed -- it's not brilliant, but it's very amusing and occasionally makes you laugh (and snort) loudly. *grins*

I think it didn't do very well mostly because some of the humour would be very uncomfortable for alot of people. Maybe walking down the street singing the 'I'm gay!' song isn't to everyone's taste. ;-)

*hugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggs*

When are you coming over tomorrow, cousin Pippin? Us anally retentive Brandybuck types are keen to know so that we can provide plenty of second breakfast, ale, etc., and plan some Adventures. :) My beloved (sudden realisation I'm characterising my husband as Estella... whoops!) can pick you up in the cart after 5pm, or there are numerous excellent persons based in the area who can drive you from that railway station thingy (honestly, Sam's innovations... not at all convinced by that one...) for a small amount of money, say twelve silver pennies or so (okay, not that small, so if Estella isn't available to drive you we'll go halves on your taxi - I know how uncle Paladin likes to keep you short :( ).

Don't worry about bringing a sleeping bag in your pack, though a towel would be most useful.

Estella and I would also like to know whether you'd like to stay until Thursday or Friday? We are very happy for you to stay until Friday if you would like to. :)

Hope that life is looking up in Tuckborough. Can't believe it's only a couple of weeks since we were in Great Smials ourselves. Ah well.

Many hugs and kisses,

**Merry**

*laughs*

Merry my sweet, you are just too adorable. *smoochers for da coz* :D

I shall be in Frogmorton for a good part of the afternoon, meeting [livejournal.com profile] queeniefox before she ventures off for a visit with Gandalf in his new dramatic adventure, and then I will make my way to Crickhollow to spend the evening in the company of such excellent Hobbits. :)

I do hope this is satisfactory?

And I promise not to let the Tookish gene take over and forget everything that needs to be done and/or brought.

See you on the morrow! :D

*stomps Chris Columbus into little bits* If the rumors of him coming back to do movie 4 are true, I will SCREAM. Friends and I utterly irked about the cut DVd scenes; how in the hell is anybody who hasn't read the book supposed to know what's going on? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. He kept all the action and added more, but completely destroyed the character development. And there's little enough character development in book two anyway! AUGH! Thank GOD Cuaron is handling number three! (even though they cut out all the Quidditch, which makes me sad...)

>He kept all the action and added more, but completely destroyed the character development

YESSSS!!!!

And completely ignored any sense of menace or moody atmosphere. That's what CoS is all about, living in fear and being shunned by everyone -- and there's NOTHING of that oppressive atmophere in the film. RAWR!

Am still stunned by the no quidditch revalation. But if that means that PoA will be the best film EVER, I am willing to make that sacrafice. :)

HOW CAN YOU DO POA WITHOUT QUIDDITCH?????!!!!!
