I just had a job interview at Video Choice, the world's shabbiest video store, but I think it went really well, and am willing to look past the grubby interior and towards the fact that this could finally be a JOB, and one that will pay for internet access. Which, as we all know, would make Nevvie VERY HAPPY. *grins*
Wish me luck guys!
The other night I watched an episode of Dharma and Greg where they had to babysit 'Mr Boots', a middle aged, balding man (played by Teller, the silent from the dynamic duo Penn and Teller) who liked to pretend he was a cat. And right afterwards was an episode of 3rd Rock from the Sun with Harry's pet from 'back home' who had taken the form of a curly haired man. Oh, the hilarity that ensues when people act like animals! *laughs* What a strange coincidence that those two completely unrelated episodes would be on back to back - it seemed to be Attack of the Furries night on Fox, and I was most amused. :)
Oooh, and speaking of fun things on telly, I've become addicted to Highlander again. Or rather, I've remembered how madly in love with METHOS I used to be. *swooon* Guhh. Last week he had the most badass sword fight and fell in love, all in the same episode! Doesn't get any better than that. *G* (Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Methos. The perfect (and perfectly preserved) 5,000 year old hottie. Yum.)
Is it wrong that I actually quite like TNN, the 'First Network for Men'? It's not fair. I want to hate it for being sexist and having shows like Stripperella (*gag*), but they also play Highlander, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Ren and Stimpy. Granted, it's not real Ren and Stimpy, as it's lost John K., but that's besides the point -- it has good shows! Damn them. *sulk*
So now I might have a job to pay for my internet, I just need a computer....well, darling
kefiv is giving me one! That's right, he's graciously donating his old laptop to the Save The Nevvie From Dying of Boredom and Loneliness fund. Huzzah! Isn't he a good boy? Yes, he really is. :)

Sundry responses
Date: 2003-08-05 07:53 pm (UTC)I have a general aversion to Dharma & Greg, but I watched the Mr. Boots episode, just because it had Teller in it. I've always like Penn & Teller (I got the chance to meet both of them once, and got their autographs as well as bloody thumbprints :) That was a very strange episode, because it wasn't clear to what extent Mr. Boots was just pretending to be a cat (if I recall, they treat him just like a cat without ever questioning it -- I might have missed the first few minutes, though). I've also seen that 3rd Rock episode. Maybe that'll become a new sitcom cliche :)
TNN has gone through some weird changes in the past few years. I remember when it was The Nashville Network (aka, the Channel for Good Ol' Boys), then they became The National Network, America's "pop network", showing stuff like the Wonder Years, I Dream Of Jeanie, as well as Star Trek, and now they're SpikeTV? Talk about an identity crisis.
Poor Stan Lee...I haven't watched the show, though, so I can't really comment on it. As far as Ren & Stimpy go, John Kricfalusi is back on the show. A lot of people (including animation critics who are long-time fans of his work) are saying that John K seems to have lost his touch, and has resorted to really disturbingly bad taste in place of his former genious humor (compare with Ralph Bakshi's career). I've only seen the first episode, which I'll admit was rather depressing. Not because the duo are "outed" rather explicitly, which seems to be the biggest (lamest) complaint tv watchers have of the new series (I think a lot of people who watched the old show at least vaguely picked up on that aspect of their relationship), but just because it felt rather hollow and overly infantile. And no Billy West *s* The old episodes are fun to watch again, though :)
Oops, didn't mean this to run on for so long... Must have been the coffee I just drank :) Sorry about that!
Re: Sundry responses
Date: 2003-08-06 05:27 pm (UTC)I thought TNN used to be a country music station! How odd that it morphed into this weird new conglomeration. John K is back?? I couldn't tell at all. How utterly disappointing. *sad*
I used to avoid Dharma and Greg like the plague, because it just seemed to perpetuate crude stereotypes and didn't look at all enjoyable, but now it's on before Highlander, so I watch it while I'm waiting for the good stuff to come on. *grins*
And don't apologize for rambling! I like waffling on for hours, tis fun. *G*
