Jan. 8th, 2004 03:30 pmHappy Birthday
ashfae! Can you believe we've known each other more than five years? I remember when you were just an ickle Fae...and now you're all grown up. Awwwww. *giggles*
I hope you have a perfectly marvelous day, my love. *squeezes tight and showers you in celebratory sparkles* :)
I had a rather disturbing experience at work the other day, when Professor Umbridge came in and demanded a free dvd rental. No, I'm serious. Dolores Umbridge walked into my store, up to my till, and started harassing me. It would have been irksome enough if a normal person had done it, but Umbridge...I think I actually let out a small gasp of horror when I saw her, because she really was the EXACT copy of Umbridge, from the stubby fingers covered in gaudy rings, to protruding eyes and wide, amphibian mouth. And of course, she had the same evil personality. It was rather unnerving, actually, to be speaking with someone you'd swear was only fictional. Let's hope she never comes in again. *G*
Speaking of the Potterverse...Can someone tell me how exactly Lucius can recognize Padfoot? Am I forgetting a passage from GoF where Sirius transforms in front of him? They weren't at school together, so it can't be from their Hogwarts days...*puzzlement* Also, is there a website that has a list of all of Ron's 'predictions' which ended up coming true? I'm just curious. And lastly, is there a good fanart picture of Hermione and her otter Patronus? I'd love to make one into an icon (with the artist's permission of course).
In other news...I am the Jeopardy Queen! Oh yes I am. *beams proudly* I really should apply to be on the show, because I always seem to do as well as, if not better than, the eventual winner. Huzzah for obscure knowledge and Ravenclaw intellectual superiority! Of course, knowing my luck, if I ever do get on the programme, all the questions will be about sports. Bleaugh. *laughs*
I changed my default icon to the photo of me looking cuter than I actually do, because you all seem to agree it's the best. Plus it has my name on it, just in case you've forgotten which journal you're reading, which I'm sure you all find very helpful. *smirks* ;-) *hugs and kisses each and every one of you* :)

Date: 2004-01-08 03:45 pm (UTC)I bet you and Ash would get on really well. :)
For a brief moment I actually did think I was going mad, and that I had imagined a character had really stepped out of the book, and then of course I was annoyed that I had imagined such a horrible one into existance, instead of my darling Weasley Twins. *grins*

And I thought Lucius attended Hogwarts with Mr Weasley, which is where part of their animosity comes from, just like Snape and Sirius and Harry and Draco...Hmmmm. *ponders*

Date: 2004-01-08 03:55 pm (UTC)I believe Lucius knows Mr. Weasley from The Ministry, while Lupin/Black know him from The Order. The Weasleys are both significantly older than Snape/Marauders b/c Bill has to be around 10 yrs. older than Ron and his contemporaries.
Sorry for babbling. *grin*

Date: 2004-01-08 04:31 pm (UTC)Say Lucius was no younger than 17 in his last year. That would mean for any of the Marauders to be in school with him, they would have to be at least 11, which is only 6 years difference, when the age difference between them is likely closer to 8-9 years. It really depends on whether people are ever let in earlier or later than 11.
It's also possible that Bill was at Hogwarts with the Marauders (a 1st year to their 7th years, perhaps.) Scary, yes?

Date: 2004-01-08 04:00 pm (UTC)As for Lucius and Padfoot, logic and descriptions from Wormtail, I'd imagine. Any big black dog seen in the vicinity of Harry immediately becomes suspect.
Hey birthday girl! :D
Date: 2004-01-08 04:04 pm (UTC)*giggles*
I shall endevour to restrain myself from ever using the word
'ickle'in your presence again.Except for there of course. ;-)
Wormtail! Doh. I forgot about him. But there aren't any passages where he does mention Padfoot, right? I just want to make sure I didn't miss something.
*HUUUUUUUGS* Happy happy birthday! Wheeeeee! :D

Date: 2004-01-08 04:39 pm (UTC)The HP Lexicon has a very good time line of dates, times and places if you need to look 'em up. I think I saw the info about Ron's predications (which I'd completely missed!!) on a forum at either Mugglenet or Sugarquill.com.
TONKS!
Date: 2004-01-09 12:28 am (UTC)I stopped reading the HP lexicon a while ago for some reason I can't quite remember now, but it had something to do with a geographical innacuracy (or several) that really annoyed me and I gave the site the virtual shove out the window. *giggles*
Sounds rather stupid, now that I come to say it outloud...*grins sheepishly*
Re: TONKS!
Date: 2004-01-09 12:47 am (UTC)It is inaccurate with some things including when Charlie Weasley was born (anal retentive prat who plays him argued with me about his age/year of birth, citing the Lexicon only it contradicts itself in several places). It's no big deal except in terms of the game, it needed to be fixed esp. since I was making up some background for the Mutable One and also trying to figure out if/when she knew various people at school, including her lover boy, Bill Weasely. ;-)
The timeline on the lexicon is supposedly directly from the CoS DVD which I've never actually looked for on there...so that at least should be accurate or at least considered canon as it was approved by Herself (that would be JKR, not my Darling 'Dora).

Date: 2004-01-09 06:37 pm (UTC)Umbridge did indeed show up, and brought her very scruffy and unpleasent smelling husband, who looked like a lumberjack who had been dead for a few weeks and just recently rose from the grave...;-)
Hee. Am cute. *blush* :D

also, if you'd like any Jeopardy-related tips, please let me know, as I was a contestant on the 1997 Teen Tournament. No, really. I was. I have the video evidence to prove it. And witnesses.

That is so nifty. My inner Ravenclaw is squealing with envy. *grins*
Believe me when I say that coming face to face with Dolores Umbridge is just about the most terrifying experience you can ever have. *shudders*
I think she wanted a copy of American Wedding. *snerk* ;-)

Date: 2004-01-09 09:00 pm (UTC)It was really a lot of fun, and Alex Trebek is actually very nice and a lot cooler than he seems on tv. He sang and danced at one point!
My episode was odd. There was a Star Trek category, and one of the daily doubles had to do with tribbles. So they decided it would be funny to put tribbles all over everything in the entire studio. The tournament kids got to take one home each. It was neat.
Did Dolores do the "hem hem hem?" Or no?
American Wedding? Heh. I hope she had NO idea what it was about, and thought it was just some nice kids getting married.

Date: 2004-01-12 03:58 pm (UTC)My father looks frighteningly like Alex Trebek's twin.
I'm rather afraid that Dolores did know about American Wedding, and enjoyed it, and if that isn't an indication to avoid all such films like the plague, I don't know what is. ;-)

My life seems 'damn cool'? Really? Sweeeeeeeeeet. *giggles*

Thank you so much for adding me! I shall of course return the favour, and the friending shall commence. *grins*
Welcome to my humble abode! *hugs*
