It's happy time!
Jan. 19th, 2004 02:25 pmFinally, a cheerful and not at all unpleasant post for your reading enjoyment. Wah hey!
I have a little costuming problem I would very much appreciate your assistance with -- I have no idea what to wear to TORN's Oscar Party. Help! *laughs*
I really don't want to wear a formal gown, because although I already have one I look dreadful in it (no, honestly, I do -- it's very beautiful on the hanger but accentuates every ripple of fat. Bleaugh.), so I'd like to go in costume, if I can. But which one? I have a gorgeous green ren faire chemise/dress thing, with long bell sleeves that makes me feel rather attractive, but I couldn't wear it as a Hobbit, and I would feel uncomfortable going as a regular human. (Ha, doesn't that just say volumes about my personality. ;-)
So...should I go as Pippin? Does anyone actually know if women are allowed to dress as male characters? Because that would obviously be a deciding factor. If I don't go as Pip, I would like to be a voluptuous hobbit lass, but I don't know which one, or if I should just make up my own costume instead. Any suggestions? :)
[Poll #235569]
Also, for anyone in the SoCal area who would like to attend an Oscar Party, Into the West is an alternative to The One Ring.net's extravaganza, and looks like it should be alot of fun. They're organizing a Disneyland trip on 27 Feb which I am going to attend, and a few other things too.
In other news...I have seen the light! Yea, though I was but a wandering sheep who had lost her flock, I had read the Book and knew that it was Good. And so an Angel spake unto me, and bade me go forth unto the wilderness and spread the Word. The word of
churchofpeej. And it was so.
In the name of Phillipa, Fran, and the Holy Peter. Amen. *giggles*
I saw ROTK again. And wept again. A lot. It's incredible how much I still have to fight the urge to break down in loud, gasping sobs at the end (and a few other places too) -- my body was actually shaking from the effort of controlling my emotions. I wonder how many more times I'll need to see it before I'll be able to hold it in. Well, let's find out, shall we? ;-)
My mood icon for today is loved. Thank you for giving me such love and support these past weeks; I know I haven't been the most cheerful companion of late, and I appreciate your words and affection more than you possibly know. *hugs and kisses for all*

What would Pippin in drag look like? (Oh yeah -- me. *smirks*)
Seriously though, how could I pull it off? I wonder if I would even be allowed to, since it's a 'black tie only' event, with 'authentic' costumes the only other alternative. Do you think the Green Dragon ever had a drag show? *giggles*

Date: 2004-01-19 03:08 pm (UTC)Exactly!
He'd make such a pretty girl...
Though if "authentic" costumes only are allowed, well, perhaps not. But whether you go as Pippin himself or as a fetching hobbit lass, you'll be brilliant and I demand photos.

Date: 2004-01-19 03:12 pm (UTC)I'm not really sure what's allowed, I need to find out if I'd be able to come as Pippin at all. But I don't know anyone who was at the party last year, so I don't know who to ask.
There will be MANY photos. Hopefully with Billy in. *swooon* :D

Date: 2004-01-20 04:27 am (UTC)I know, I looked there before writing anything, but it doesn't say anything about whether or not women are allowed to dress as male characters. I emailed Calisuri today, so hopefully he'll answer me in the next few days. :)
Did you think about my offer for the Golden Globe party? And what about the Into the West gathering?

Date: 2004-01-20 05:34 am (UTC)Anyway, did Tolkien ever say that there wasn't any hobbit cross-dressers in Middle-Earth? I mean, Eowyn got away with it, didn't she? ;)

Yeah! You're so right, Eowyn did pull the ol' cross-dressing fandango on the boys. I'm sure Tolkien would have written something for the hobbits as well, but he never got around to it. ;-)
I just received a reply from Calisuri, the webmaster of TORN, and he said I can dress as a male character if I so wish. Woohooo!
(Although wait, this makes my decision even harder! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...)
