Oct. 21st, 2004 07:55 pmLast night
achtung_meggy came down to visit me in Hollywood after work, and we had a brilliant time, eating at a late night diner and laughing about everything and nothing (as usual) in our most geeky way. We also discovered that we just missed seeing Eddie Izzard that night, and the next two nights were sold out, which made us wail and moan (especially me, and quite loudly, to the bemusement of Megan) and feel generally annoyed. Phoo.
Megan also told me that A World Without Sundays (the kickass band that performed at the TORN Oscar Party) will be playing at a trendy nightclub on the Sunset Strip on saturday night, and after an entire day of deliberation, I finally bought my ticket about ten minutes ago. I really like this band, but I felt (and still do feel) too afraid to actually attend a concert, especially at such a swish club, surrounded by trendy people in all their trendy, anti-Nevvieness. I was literally shaking last night when Megan was trying to convince me to go, because I so fear being around teenagers and beautiful (or at least, interesting looking) twenty-somethings. I'm still considering not going, even though I've already paid for my ticket, I'm that nervous. Aren't I ridiculous? It doesn't help matters that it's a Halloween concert, and everyone's supposed to come in costume, and I have absolutely nothing to wear. I only have my faerie wings, which are sparkly and purple and therefore fabulous, but they're also very large and would hit anyone within several feet of me -- not the best way to make friends in a crowded venue, I'm sure.
Aiya, what to do? Help me LJ friends, you're my only hope!
Oh, and
trianne or
mailea -- Is Elijah in town? (Of course one of you would know. ;-) Any chance of him showing up at the concert? Probably not, unless he was in costume to avoid being pounced on by all the squealing fangirls. But if he is...I'll try and find him for you. *grins*
*looks at mood icon* Yes, I am a big, dorky dork. Go me. :)

Date: 2004-10-22 03:52 am (UTC)I've seen him live, but not stand up -- he starred in the play Lenny several years ago in London, and I was lucky enough to score a seat with an exquistite view of his nekked self in the front row. Booyah! :D
(I honestly don't remember anything else about the play, except that I was impressed by his acting, because for the first half hour he was totally nude and nothing else really seemed to matter after that...*giggles*)

Date: 2004-10-22 05:09 am (UTC)They actually aren't all that bad, you should go! There's the crowd that dress skimpy and worship the band, but the last concert I was suprised at how many older ppl loved WWS as well.

Date: 2004-10-22 05:14 am (UTC)They had a free concert? AIYA! No fair. Well, this one is only $10, which really isn't bad at all.
And if some of the TORN party crowd will be there, then I'm sure I won't be the only non-teenybopper type person. Let's hope so. *crosses fingers and toes* ;-)

Are you going to Sean's book signing in Nov?

Date: 2004-10-22 07:52 am (UTC)(Also, I totally get what you mean about the Cool People, 'cause, yeah, scary, but you do deserve to go and they won't hate you and it will be fab. And as for costume, well, it's a gig, yo, you won't need anything you can't scav out of the bottom of the wardrobe. You'll be able to cut-and-stich something if need be, especially if you've got black clothes - which is yet another reason why most of my wardrobe is black, but I digress. It'll be fine. *HUGS*)

Date: 2004-10-22 08:05 am (UTC)Just think how I would be feeling, with all the teenies, at MY advanced age, Nevvie! Would still go in an instant :) Have fun! Tell Elijah I forgive him for not knowing I exist, ha ha.
And yes, have chosen this icon with care ;)

Date: 2004-10-23 05:50 am (UTC)Don't worry about the trendy people. It's a rock show, right? Wear a black shirt and jeans. Look down at the silly teeny-boppers who got dressed up, cause man, this is so everyday for you. (Or that's the attitude to take.) When I go to shows these days, I don't even put on make-up. You're there for the music, not to show off.
And don't forget to tell us all about it.

Date: 2004-10-26 12:37 am (UTC)*giggles* The trendy people frighten me not! I laugh in the face of their trendyness, and shine the full force of my Hobbit Geekery at them. Bwahahahahaha! (Yes, I've had caffine and sugar, can you tell? ;-)

Date: 2004-10-26 12:39 am (UTC)Lucky for you, there was a total lack of Elijah. Luckily for me, it was a BRILLIANT concert. *beams happily*
All my clothes are black. Except for the few that aren't. Which are only slightly lighter shades of colour than black. *G*
*SNOGS just because* :)

I did meet Guy, and now I am heeeeeeeeelplessly in love. *SWOOOON* :D
