Because
nut_m3g said she'd never speak to me again if I didn't update...AN UPDATE WAH HEY!
*does the happy nevvie dance* :D
So...what to say. Ermmm. *giggles sheepishly*
Well, there's two excuses for my lack of entries lately, neither of which are terribly interesting, but there you are. One is that it is still so damn cold in my flat all can do is shiver under the covers in a desperate attempt to stay warm, so I have no desire to cook, clean, or remain at the computer for more than a few minutes, and the other...is ANIME. Yes, I think a rather unhealthy addiction to anime is to blame. (For so many things. ;-) I've really done nothing but stay at home (or occasionally venture out to
bakaoneechan and
naughty_imp's place) and have anime marathons. That's how sad I am. Whooot. :)
Trigun: I can't believe I haven't seen this before either, it's just so classic. At least now I know why
ashfae is so in love with Vash the Stampede. Hee. *grins at Ash* Exciting, silly, tonnes of fun, and occasionally full of delicious angst. I think I might actually prefer the manga, but it's impossible not to swoon over Vash (and his perfect seiyuu Onosaka Masayu, whom I love as cheeky Momo-chan sempai in Prince of Tennis but had NO idea he was so damn sexy as well) and just have fun while watching.
Chobits: I was expecting to dislike this series, but it's CLAMP and therefore stylish and interesting, and ended up quite enjoying this ridiculous, plot-hole ridden festival of cliche and fanservice. I really like the '70's sitcom'-esque score, and the last ending song is absolutely gorgeous -- I wish the entire series had been as introspective and beautifully emo as Ningyohime (Mermaid). And I do love Sumomo, the ickle persocom, and her owner Shinbo, voiced by myjapanese boyfriend no shut up he is favourite seiyuu Seki Tomokazu.
Gravitation: SEKI TOMOKAZU OWNS MY SOUL is all I can really say about this one. *laughs* Another series I had mixed feelings about -- I tried reading the manga and was unimpressed, and the rampant popularity of this shonen-ai title put me off, but I gave in...and really liked it! It's sweet and fluffy and has some of the worst fashion choices I have EVER seen, but my beloved Seki voices the main character, so of course I fell in love. Plus Yamaguchi Kappei (Inuyasha, Ranma) is in it too, and his character Ryuichi is so terrifyingly similar to me I nearly cried. *laughs*
Still in the process of watching...
Tennis no Ojisama (Prince of Tennis/TeniPuri): Don't let the title fool you. This series isn't about tennis at all; it's about hot boys being cute and occasionally forming a boyband. It's CRACK I tell you. Craaaaaaaaaaack. And I'm addicted. I'm especially enamoured of the musicals the series has spawned, and fangirling like mad Nagayama Takashi (Nagayan!), the obscenely cute boy who played Kikumaru in the first musicals and is currently being drooled over by an entirely different crowd for playing Hitsugaya in the Bleach Rock Musical. I might have filled up many usericon spaces with his adorable visage. Maybe. ;-)
Victorian Romance Emma: Even if you think you hate anime, or can't be bothered with subtitles, you MUST watch this series. It's basically an animated Jane Austen novel, and it's brilliant. Will Emma the maid and William the gentleman be able to break through the walls society has built around them? Does William finally get up the courage to hold Emma's hand? Ohhh it's all so fantastically romantic and squee. *le sigh*
Bleach: Oh sure, now that's it's finally been licsened I want to watch this damn show. *laughs* Well, I've got the first 70 episodes already and I don't exactly plan on deleting them, so let's give it a go. Plus the musical ROCKS. And I'm not just saying that because half the cast of my TeniMyu is in it. Although I kinda am. *grins*
I am, of course, always immersed in Fruits Basket, Hagane no Rekinjutsushi and new fave Loveless. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm.
And as soon as I finish this entry (assuming I ever do), I've got the first series of Saiyuki on loan to watch as well. Wheeeeeee.
I have no idea why I'm so stuck on anime at the moment. Perhaps because it's become an outlet to meet people at last (my comic shop just started a Manga Club, I bumped into new friends Tonya and Marissa in the japanese bookshop, etc), although mostly I think it's because I've always enjoyed it, I fall deeply in love with fictional characters far too easily and anime has so many to love, and I just have the time to waste watching it. I'm so bored when I'm not at work, so I watch cartoons. I read a lot as well, but mostly watch anime. I guess I'm rather pathetic, really. But at least my animated friends love me. *G*
Let's see, what else...OH! I never had a proper LOTR convention entry, did I. I suppose it's a bit late now (*hangs head in shame*), so here are the highlights: I love
trianne forever and always (that just needed to be said ;-), and thank her AMAZING FRIENDS for letting me crash their party and inviting myself along with all their activies both during and after the con. I met some fabulous new people, bonded with people I had met before but only briefly, GOT FELT UP BY SHOX OMG (lead singer of World Without Sundays, as if you didn't know), laughed a lot, had a tremendous amount of fun and wished it would never end. Yayyy for conventions, especially of the LOTR variety. :)
...I suppose I shouldn't really be hurt or even annoyed that I've been defriended by a boatload of people, should I. Stupid me for not updating. *kicks self hard* *grins sheepishly once again*
But at least now I know why I never write anything. I'm so damn boring! This entire entry is all about watching anime, bleaugh. Sorry everyone. I'll try to make up something actually interesting for next time. ;-)

Also, I seem to be the only girl on LJ who hasn't seen Brokeback Mountain. It intimidates me: I don't think I could handle the sad.

I haven't seen it either.
THEREFORE WE MUST SEE IT TOGETHER! Somehow...somewhere...*nodnod*
...for some reason I have an inexplicable urge to use the capslock whenever you're around. *giggles*

If I live in California next year (San Francisco, but still!), which is a distinct possibility, then we can hold each other through it. *nodnod!*

It's ok that you don't update that often, I mean, I can't too much anymore with school and my audition for the theatre program at Western Michigan Universiy. Ack! That would be tomorrow!!!!! *nervous*

You can always comment on someone's else's boring life in their journal occassionally, if you want to keep up the appearance of being among the living without actually writing about your own life. Or you can do what several of us other lame people do and become an online quiz addict.

I don't have the 'official' okay yet, but unless my manager suddenly decides to turn into a right nasty cow, then WE'RE GOING TO WIZARDCON and suchlike. *grins impishly*
Nononononono, I am most definitely NOT suggesting you and Ma-chan got me in a one-track-anime-mind. I was there LONG before I met you both. Hoo boy was I ever. You two at least get me out of the house! *gigglegrin*

Well, at least we were able to do that. hehe It's been fun. I'm definitely ready to watch Gravi again...especially after seeing that shirt. That is a definite must have. I wonder...if I order it now, do you think it will get to me before next Friday??? *doubts it...but hopes anyway* It would be so awesome to have that for Sakura Con in Seattle. *bounces*

Loveless is a shonen-ai title that had a 12 episode anime series last year (pllllllease don't let those be the last!) is still continuing in the manga, although it's nearly finished, woe. The artwork is astonishingly beautiful, the characters SO angsty and traumatized it's the most delicious soap opera ever, and can also be quite silly and fun too. The main plot is about how 12 year old Ritsuka is suddenly brought into a world of magickal fighting by Soubi, a 'friend' of his dear brother who was recently murdered. Soubi turns out to be a fighter in magickal battles fought with wordspells, and Ritsuka's brother Seimei was the 'sacrafice' -- and now Ritsuka is one too. Soubi and Ritsuka's relationship is complex, frustrating, and occasionally ridiculously sexy, and isn't just about boytouching (although it is quite nice ;-). Ritsuka has no one at home to love him, his mother abuses him daily, his brother is dead, and before Soubi entered his life all he wanted to do was die. (So much angst, wheee!) Soubi promises to help him find who killed his brother, and gives him the attention he so desperately needs. The whole thing is fantastically done, really well written and drawn, and all the side characters are wonderful too (especially Kio, who wants to be Soubi's boyfriend and loves teasing him about what a perv he is), plus the battle sequences are amazing, and I love the way the power of language (to hurt or to heal) is an underlying metaphor for everything that occurs in the series. It's actually a lot more complicated than my poor excuse for a plot summary would have you believe, and is definitely worth a look.
Also, did I mention the CAT EARS? *grins impishly*

YOU MUST VISIT AND WE CAN WATCH ANIME TOGETHER.
That is all.
Also, see One Piece, which is DELIGHTFUL. My affinity to the main character is really rather worrying. He rocks. =)

I would give anything to fly over this instant and have a weekend anime marathon with you. Seriously, anything. My limbs are useless and ready for the taking. *giggles*
I've only seen about 10 minutes of One Piece, and it was the horrible, edited american dub, and was put off for life. HOWEVER, on your recommendation I shall give it a try. You so totally own me. *grins*

And eeeee, icon love!
Also, must send you music videos now that you've seen Trigun!
Thought you would enjoy this :)
