Anyone want to come to Holland with me?

Neil Gaiman, Phillip Pullman, Brian Froud and other wonderful people are all going to be at the Elf Fantasy Fair on 23 April. Sounds like heaven to me. Even if it is in Holland. *grins*

I found a film with one of the silliest titles I've ever heard -- Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Apparently its a combination of Rocky Horror, Jesus Christ Superstar and WWF Smackdown. *laughs* I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] pouk23 (and just about every other twisted person on my friends list) would love it. :)

Random thought of the day: Why is a mouse when it spins?

Also -- why the heck does Peter Piper get such a thrill from picking all those damn pickled peppers? And how exactly did he do it anyway? Pickles are neither picked nor peppered, as they're fermented cucumbers. It makes no sense!

And now some self abuse with hobbits.

Neil *and* Brian Froud?! *dies* I am so there. (I wish I could afford it! Neil would probably be highly confused if I showed up to see him in Holland too...) I'm still kicking myself for missing out on this doll artisan convention from 3 years ago that Brian & Wendy Froud attended -- one of the workshops given was a Creature Creation thingee with the two of them as well as a guided meditation based on Brian's Faerie Oracle deck. *sigh*

Ahhhhhhh! Dude. Dude. I would give a limb to be there. Stupid Australia. Grrragh.

They are, like, The Three Cleverest People Alive Ever. And stuff.

Oh! Squee! I could maybe even do that! And it's right near my birthday, so I could even justify the expense to myself. Hmm... Do you have a link of some flavor?

I'm a horrible person.

I'm not positive I'm going to be able to get free to go to my sister's graduation in May. I'm not entirely sure I want to, as my evil grandparents are going to be there.

But this... well, I'm thinking about it.

Uhm... Holland is pretty close to Sweden... sort of! A litle bit closer than London is, anyway! So why don't you come visit me..? ( I live in the very southernmost part of Sweden too; it's not a very long way to travel... )

Believe it or not, I spent far too much of my childhood pondering the Peter Piper controversy. The pickle thing is easy - in English English (I take it then that you speak American English - I was unsure, since it's obviously quite English American English) what the Americans call pickles are called gherkins, and whilst 'pickle' as a noun is brown gunky stuff, anything at all preserved in vinegar (eggs, onions and peppers being particularly popular) can be said to be pickled.

However, the fact remains that peppers are first picked and then peppered and so to pick a pickled pepper would seem impossible. But one day I saw a television programme in which some pear liquor was sold in narrow-necked bottles containing a whole pear. The pear was placed in the bottle when but a baby and grew to be so big that it could not be removed. I concluded (I was c.8) that something similar must have occured in the Peter Piper case. It was several years before I pondered the point of whether peppers would continue to grow once pickled.

And so it remains one of the greatest mysteries of our age.

You have no idea :) Sadly, all my money appears to have disapeared into 'moving house' pit :(

I'll have to check out that film, now, too...
