Today I am a silly monkey.
Jan. 29th, 2003 12:05 amAnyone want to come to Holland with me?
Neil Gaiman, Phillip Pullman, Brian Froud and other wonderful people are all going to be at the Elf Fantasy Fair on 23 April. Sounds like heaven to me. Even if it is in Holland. *grins*
I found a film with one of the silliest titles I've ever heard -- Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Apparently its a combination of Rocky Horror, Jesus Christ Superstar and WWF Smackdown. *laughs* I'm sure
pouk23 (and just about every other twisted person on my friends list) would love it. :)
Random thought of the day: Why is a mouse when it spins?
Also -- why the heck does Peter Piper get such a thrill from picking all those damn pickled peppers? And how exactly did he do it anyway? Pickles are neither picked nor peppered, as they're fermented cucumbers. It makes no sense!
And now some self abuse with hobbits.

Which Lord of the Rings character and personality problem are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Which LOTR item are you obsessed with?

Date: 2003-01-29 03:17 pm (UTC)>Neil would probably be highly confused if I showed up to see him in Holland too
Hehehehe...when he was here on the Coraline tour last year I saw him three days in a row, and I know he was sick of the sight of me. *laughs* 'Oh, lord, not YOU again!' :D
That workshop sounds really nifty! I would have loved to attend that. Mmmm Brian Froud...*faerie droolage* :)
Re:
Date: 2003-01-29 03:23 pm (UTC)I'd love to see Brian Froud anywhere -- I think I'd die of happiness. :)
Re:
Date: 2003-01-29 03:33 pm (UTC)I've seen Neil 5 times, and he's remembered me at nearly every event, which is of course highly flattering, but I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm stalking him. And who knows, maybe I am. *grins impishly* ;-)
Re:
Date: 2003-01-29 03:38 pm (UTC)I've seen him 4x since then (3x with Lucy Anne) and he's always seeing us first and saying hello. I can't complain -- it's nice that he actually remembers who I am and all sorts of weird little details about me which is more than I can say for some friends of mine. LOL
I try not to stalk him cos I am still shy -- but at Boskone, it was getting ridiculous. We just kept running into one another. I felt like saying 'No, Neil, I did NOT follow you to the toilet and stand outside the door just in hopes that you'd come out and say hello to me!" :)
*jaw drop*
Date: 2003-01-29 03:53 pm (UTC)You've been corresponding with Neil for over 10 years?? WOW!!! *seethes with uncontrolable envy* ;-)
You are now officially the Coolest Person I Know. *stares in wide eyed awe* :D
Re: *jaw drop*
Date: 2003-01-29 04:44 pm (UTC)I am jealous of her to be honest. :) Me, I'm just a boring old fan girl (although I will admit that it's kind of cool that Neil has copies of *my* books in his library -- they're only books on doll collecting but still...)
Re: *jaw drop*
Date: 2003-01-29 04:51 pm (UTC)Aiiiii she's the infamous LucyAnne! Of course I know who she is, she and Puck used to keep the Dreaming the only source for Neil news. That is just so astoundingly cool!
Wow. Neil has your books. Wow. :)))
(Guhhh, you're rendering me completely speechless! Stop it right now. ;-)
Re: *jaw drop*
Date: 2003-01-29 05:03 pm (UTC)In all seriousness, I'm just a boring old fan girl! No reason to be speechless at all! :)
Re: *jaw drop*

*babbles incoherently*
Oh.My.GOD. Your friends get christmas cards from Neil!? AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! *faints*
And you could too? Curse your shyness! Milk your good fortune for all its worth girl! *lol* ;-)
I don't know how I'm going to be able to sleep now. *laughs*
Re: *jaw drop*

Re: *jaw drop*
Date: 2003-01-31 08:10 am (UTC)OMG I know this girl. She had the only Neverwhere site for yonks. (I always meant to have my own Neverwhere shrine, complete with a Croup and Vandermar online buisness, but I never got around to it. Plus I'm not a very good web designer. *G*)
Once again -- you RULE. :)

Date: 2003-01-28 05:22 pm (UTC)Ahhhhhhh! Dude. Dude. I would give a limb to be there. Stupid Australia. Grrragh.
They are, like, The Three Cleverest People Alive Ever. And stuff.
Gelfling!
Date: 2003-01-29 03:10 pm (UTC)*laughs*
Most of the time I think I'd rather be where you are (especially when it's desperately cold and raining) -- maybe we could swap places for a day or two? And then you hop across the channel to Holland and see all the nifty people, and I could get a tan. *grins*

Date: 2003-01-28 07:36 pm (UTC)Oh! Squee! I could maybe even do that! And it's right near my birthday, so I could even justify the expense to myself. Hmm... Do you have a link of some flavor?

Date: 2003-01-29 03:07 pm (UTC)I do indeed!
Here you go: http://www.elffantasy.nl/fairprog.html
Most of it is in Dutch though I'm afraid. :)

Date: 2003-01-28 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm not positive I'm going to be able to get free to go to my sister's graduation in May. I'm not entirely sure I want to, as my evil grandparents are going to be there.
But this... well, I'm thinking about it.

You're not a bad person, you just maybe need to sort out your priorities. ;-)

Date: 2003-01-29 02:29 am (UTC)However, the fact remains that peppers are first picked and then peppered and so to pick a pickled pepper would seem impossible. But one day I saw a television programme in which some pear liquor was sold in narrow-necked bottles containing a whole pear. The pear was placed in the bottle when but a baby and grew to be so big that it could not be removed. I concluded (I was c.8) that something similar must have occured in the Peter Piper case. It was several years before I pondered the point of whether peppers would continue to grow once pickled.
And so it remains one of the greatest mysteries of our age.

Date: 2003-01-29 02:56 pm (UTC)I don't know what you're talking about, I speak perfectly beautiful English English, thank you very much. :-P
*giggles*
You have obviously spent many hours (and possibly sleepless nights) pondering this conudrum. Should I be worried? *smirk* ;-)

I'll have to check out that film, now, too...

Sounds like a plan to me. *grins*
