Absolutely furious about Oscar nominations. Or rather, THE LACK THEREOF.

Can't even talk right now, am so angry, and utterly, utterly disappointed.

Sigh.

Grrr, why can't they take it seriously.

Oscar time always destroys my admiration for the film industry.

Because they have so very little taste.

They really need to realise that just because fantasy films arn't set in the "real world" it dosn't exclude them from being mindblowingly fantastic films and getting the rewards due to them

Fsh. I never watch the Oscars. It's nothing but a bunch of elitist morons patting their friends on the back and being bloody dull while doing it.

But any of the Supporting Actors--with the exception of Ed Harris, who is awesome--being nominated over ma cher Andy makes me want to break some thumbs.

Wow. Can you imagine the sheer amount of people who worked their asses off for this movie? *sigh* They're such snobs, and I can stand anything but a snob.
I wonder how much damage one of those statuettes would do. Not that I plan on doing anything, but... *whistles innocently as evil grin spreads across her face*

Exactly what movie are you talking about? Lord of the Rings is up for 4 nominations, including best picture. While I agree that the actors should be given a lot of credit, 4 nominations is still nothing to sneeze at. And ultimately, no one cares who wins an Oscar (at least I don't). People will still love the movie, despite the lack of awards.

I know :(

Strangely enough, I'm less bewildered by the lack of a directing nomination (though that still pisses me off) than by the lack of a makeup nomination. For the love of Pete, how is a unibrow more impressive than the painstaking recreation of a half-dozen fantasy races? *growls*

Stupid Academy. Well, at least I won't have to bother sitting through the whole ceremony this year...there's no point.

SNUBBED: Best Director. Best SCORE. Best Song. Best Actor (supporting or otherwise).

Am so, so sad about Howard not being nominated for his beautiful music. So unfair.

And the awards would validate the seriousness of LOTR, and the fantasy genre in general -- it's not just a 'silly fairy story' after all, it's blood, sweat and tears. It's beautiful and it's brilliant. And dammit, it DESERVES to be recognized.

And even that asmatic cow XenArwen can act a ZILLION times better than Renee fucking Zellwigger. *spits on her name*

It isn't even nominated for make up?? I didn't notice that. ARRRGHH!

AND no costume design!?? WHATTHEFUCK!!! *bashes head against wall*

Sometimes I have absolutely no faith in my fellow actors at all. Were they all on drugs this week or WHAT!? *snarls*

5 nominations by my count, including techy stuff, sounds all right to me but *shrug*. My bet is that they're saving up the extravagant praise for the third one, so they can reward the whole lot in one go, as it were.

They suck, completely. I am so, so angry and disapointed -- however, the Academy Awards are nothing but blow jobs between friends. I don't know why I give a shit (except for the fact that it might have been nice if they at least made a pretence of being merit-based, rather than industry politics-based).

I realize five noms is doing alright. But last year Jackson received
a nom in the best director catagory. As did Ian McKellen and a slew of
other things. Five compared to the thirteen Fellowship snagged is pretty
sad.

And the majority of Oscar viewers that I've known don't give a damn about the tech awards.

Apparently so. *sighs* Morons.

I'm getting an army together to storm the Kodak Theatre on March 23rd. Wanna join? We can wave pitchforks and flamethrowers and chuck replicas of the One Ring at everyone's heads! It'll be a grand ole time!

(As for the swearing: don't worry about it. It's nothing I haven't heard before - or said myself, for that matter ^_~)

I was so furious I nearly had a meltdown!! Sons of bitches don't know a good movie when they see it! And LOTR is more than a good movie, it's the good movie! The best!! Among all the awards it didn't get nominated for -ex. all of them- I was particularly pissed to see that Peter Jackson didn't get Best Director, and Howard Shore didn't get best score. And it really chesses me that "Gollum's Song" wasn't nominated, which, in my opinion, is the best lyrical song written specifically for a movie.

GOD!!! The Academy pisses me off!

Who wants to go to LA with me and go Treebeard on their ass!!!

*hugs* to everyone who loves Lord Of The Rings

grrrrr.

I think that the various small film industries around the world should gang up with the Lord of the Rings, a few over-looked British and US art films, and all take over Hollywood together. Then they could have an awards ceremony for art films, films-in-languages-other-than-English and fantasy/sci-fi films, and ignore the rest of the rubbish. Damn it, I'd pay money to watch that!! Maybe they could even set up a tv section, and finally give Buffy the plaudits it deserves...

The fact that the Oscars have the patronising "Best Foreign Film" award when the US is only the second biggest film producing country in the world anyway, and when the best cinema at the moment is apparently being made in Iran, is some indication of how silly things are. Peter Jackson's in *very* good company being ignored like this, which I hope is some comfort.

And in addition, I imagine that they're only doing it so that they don't have to be repeating themselves when they shower RotK with plaudits next year.

Nevertheless.... grrrrrr! And *huggggss* to you!

*cuddles*

Oh, I'm quite sure they've all decided to wait until ROTK to give them any sort of proper recognition. But of course by then there'll be another 'amazing' film that all the critics love and will certainly beat LOTR for the best film Oscar once again. *growls*

It's amazing how everyone (critics I mean) realize how terrific Buffy is, and praise the writing to the skies, but it still gets no respect. Why is everything I love doomed to such a fate? *sighs*
