Absolutely furious about Oscar nominations. Or rather, THE LACK THEREOF.

Can't even talk right now, am so angry, and utterly, utterly disappointed.

Sigh.

SNUBBED: Best Director. Best SCORE. Best Song. Best Actor (supporting or otherwise).

Am so, so sad about Howard not being nominated for his beautiful music. So unfair.

And the awards would validate the seriousness of LOTR, and the fantasy genre in general -- it's not just a 'silly fairy story' after all, it's blood, sweat and tears. It's beautiful and it's brilliant. And dammit, it DESERVES to be recognized.

And even that asmatic cow XenArwen can act a ZILLION times better than Renee fucking Zellwigger. *spits on her name*

Ooh. Dat's cold, Obi-wan. Of course, it's true, but, eh. *grin*

You KNOW it's true. Why can't everyone else see it? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Boobies. She got 'em. Dat's why.

Is that what Richard Mayhew looks like in the BBC version? I never got to see that.

But she doesn't! She's flatter than roadkill. She did have boobies once, when she had to gain a whole *20* pounds (GASP! THE HORROR!) for Bridget Jones, but she said (overandoverandover) that she was a disgusting whale so now she's a size 2 and virtually transparent. Gods I hate her. HATEHATEHATE.

Hate.

And yes, that's my darling Richard! This is also Richard -- I have the series on my computer now, so I'm going to do a big screencap fest soon (this weekend?) and make a shedload of icons, graphics and other fun things for the Neverwhere page that I've been meaning to make for 6 years. *grins*

Oh, I thought you meant Arwen. Not a big fan, personally.

Richard yummy. Mmmm...

Oh, I don't like Liv Tyler at all. But compared to Renee she's a bloody genius. ;-)

Richard is SO yummy. And his voice is to die for. So astoundingly sexy. Guhhhh. *melt*

True. It does deserve to be recognized. But I doubt it ever will be. These people are opposed to people who actually enjoy imaginitive storylines.

Hi Nevvie! Found your journal over at the Playgroup and thought I'd stop by. And now I have to comment.

Out of everything I've heard regarding the awards and LotR, I think what you said just about sums up exactly how I feel about it. LotR deserves so much more than it gets. I was terribly disappointed when Howard Shore didn't get nominated while John Williams got nominated for the 80 billionth time.

Grr. Argh.

Hey Annie! *squish*

I wish everyone could see our perspective and not dismiss LOTR as being trivial fantasy. I think Chicago is more of a fantasy film than TTT, as it's done almost entirely through dream sequences, but you won't hear ANYONE call that a fantasy.
Such a hypocritical world we live in. Sigh.

You're absolutely right about Chicago. Even though I haven't seen it, I know enough about it to take a stand. People dismiss LotR as fantasy as soon as they learn that it's got hobbits, elves, wizards, etc. But it's really not. It's about the characters and the events. To me the characters are no longer of different races, they simply are who they are. I don't think of them in terms of "Frodo is a short, large footed creature" or "Legolas is a tall, pointy eared elf."

I sound like I should be selling something.
