Feb. 19th, 2003 01:56 am- Things of interest: (because I once again can not be bothered to write a normal, coherent entry ;-)
- The new X-Men 2 trailer is fantastic, and has many glorious closeups of Nightcrawler. Mmmm. Not sure if I like the CGI for his teleporting, as there is no smoke and the graphics look a bit like silly string, but I'm sure I will adapt. I don't hate XenArwen after all. *grins* (However, if there is no BAMF sound I will a very unhappy bunny indeed.)
- There is going to be a new My Little Pony film! Wheeee! And yes, I do realize I am much, much too old to be excited about this. But I don't care! :D
- Books are good for you. :)
- I have a ticket to see Sir Ian 'I'm too sexy for my sexual preference' Mckellen in Dance of Death next thursday. GO ME! *does the Happy Nevvie dance*
- And finally...I have The Last Unicorn on dvd! Not a rip-off copy from Ebay, or even the German version, this is an authentic, brand new British dvd of the best animated film ever. Oh happy, happy day. :))

Date: 2003-02-18 06:07 pm (UTC)-:wants to see the X-Men trailer. And if there's no BAMF sounds, you won't be the only unhappy person out there...I can just see the two of us, sitting there murmuring "Bamf!" every time he does his thing. And then, when the annoyed people in the theatre around us look at us all cross-eyed, we can look at them innocently and say "I'm just inserting the missing sound effects."
-I cannot believe another My Little Pony movie! I used to play with those when I was very, very little...hardly any kids know about them these days...I suppose that's going to change, isn't it. :giggles: I can't wait!
-Yes, they are. Very, very good for you. I spend more money on books than I do food (I think, anyway.) This is not news, m'dear ;).
-Oooooh, lucky! I want to see Sir Ian! You have a good time and come back and tell us all about it, y'hear!
-Whoosh, enjoy! I really want to see that movie again, haven't in a while. :Gets a hankering: All right, time to hunt it down...

*rotfl* Don't tempt me, I will do it. I can absolutely see myself shouting 'BAMF!' every time he teleports. Well, when I'm not busy swooooooning over him, that is. ;-)
MLP is making a come back baby! Awww yeah.
Everyone should watch TLU! All the time. I'm convinced the world would be a happier place if they knew Schmendrick and Hobbits. They're the cure for all ills. *grins*

Why are you sending out wedding invitations? I thought you were already married...?
no subject
Date: 2003-02-20 02:32 am (UTC)Don't you read woman - my friends Fe and Shawn, are getting married and have asked me to do their wedding invitations. Their colours are silver and purple (dark, royal purple), so I am trying to stay in that colour scheme whilst begging them to change to dark blue (so much easier! rofl). They are doing a somewhat "celtic/ren/medieval/fantasy" theme - they liked this idea: http://www.oliviastationery.co.uk/dragon.html But these are a bit cost prohibitive for their budget (and me making them, I can give them as a gift). Of course, we have come up with something completely different, only using some of the basic ideas from this design. We will be using purple ink on a silver cardstock for the invite ( http://www.marcopaper.com/stardream.htm - I used the "saphire" colour for envelopes for my christmas cards this past year - exisquite paper!!!!) - either will use a custom drawn dragon (Eric does them, but he's so swamped with school and everything right now, I don't think he will have time) or other dragon (in dingbat font form) on the front (corner) with some other detail (possibly their names, not sure) in a celtic-ish font they have chosen. Open the invite, and on the inside printed on white cloud vellum in purple, will be the wedding details, probably with the claddagh (this is what her engagement ring is) at the top and simple line border - this will be attached to the card. I want something simple, yet elegant. We will see how it goes. I might decide to add more detail to the inside - a celtic looking border (knotwork) or something, but I do not want to take too much away from the important details (words). Of course this could all change - was thinking of doing a claddagh on front with the words "with these two hands I give you my heart and crown it with love" and doing a simple line border on the inside with the dragon on the bottom corner, or a dragon "watermarked" on the vellum with printing over it.
But I don't want to start anything until my envelopes are on the way. I THINK I might have found a supplier for them - we've been emailing back and forth today, and she is going to send me samples of her purple colours - so yay! We will see!
I did my sister's wedding stationary ensemble a couple of years ago - ooh boy, what a job that was - all handstamped and embossed. But these will mean more to me - my sister is a little bitch. Shawn and Fe are two of the most special people in my life - so I really want these to be perfect.

Date: 2003-02-23 12:59 am (UTC)I know... But I have quite a few that I wouldn't mind losing..! I'd be smarter about it than Bastian too. Wasting one wish for every step up the tower, when he could easily have said "I wish for the steps to reach all the way up to the top"! Yes, I read the book. Even before the movie was made. Yes, the book was better, but a movie can make better and more detailed pictures than the ones in my head when I read a book. For example the HP movies and LOTR. I usually prefer reading the book first, though. Forming my own opinion of what it looks like.

Date: 2003-02-24 10:18 am (UTC)I'm not sure Bastian had any choice with the steps up to the tower...that might simply be the way Auryn grants wishes. And yep, I like the book and movie best in conjunction, and always picture characters from the movie when rereading the book. I like to have both.

The german version has been around for about a year, but the British one is brand new this week! SQUEEE!!
Do you have a region free player? I'll send you one. Or even if you don't, I could probably find a crack for your player and make it region free. *grins*

I'd suggest ordering your tickets asap, as there are barely any left -- I got mine for 20 quid through the 'Get Into London!' discount program, the website is http://www.londonnet.co.uk (I think). Good luck!

Date: 2003-02-19 08:04 am (UTC)HUH? How can you be too sexy for your sexual preference? Unless, of course, your sexual preference is... not having sex?!
Oh, and what is his sexual preference, anyway?
( ... OK, so I'm a stupid girl who doesn't know anything... )

Date: 2003-02-19 02:30 pm (UTC)Sir Ian is very, very gay, and fiercely proud of it. :)
You're not stupid! You just don't feel the need to know all the Hollyweird gossip. *grins*

Date: 2003-02-20 01:41 am (UTC)Oh, I wouldn't mind knowing the Hollyweird gossip. At least not if it's about anybody involved in any of my favourite "universes" ( see my profile for details! ). But I don't care enough to actually seek it out.
*pets and cuddles otter* Oooh, I just adore cute, fuzzy things! ( This does include Hobbits, even if my favourites in those movies tend to be somewhat taller... )

Re:
Date: 2003-02-19 05:17 pm (UTC)So what do you think about the live action remake of The Last Unicorn being made?
no subject
Date: 2003-02-20 11:10 am (UTC)I have extremely mixed feelings about it -- on the one hand, I'm so pleased that people consider it a film worth making, but on the other...why tamper with perfection? If they don't get the Unicorn looking just right and absolutely realistic it will be an utter disaster. And Schmendrick has to be perfect, or I will cry. ;-)
We might still be able to get cheap tickets, but only from the Half Price Ticket Booth, and then we may arrive and find there aren't any tickets at all. But I don't think that'll be a problem, as it's not a sold out show and the Booth almost always has tickets. :)
