Apr. 22nd, 2003 09:01 pmI haven't written for several days again, does that make you forget about me, or miss me when I'm gone? Either way, I have lots to say today. *grins*
Kingdom Hearts has been vanquished! And no, I didn't play through the night twice in a row and watch the sun rise while kicking daemon butt. Why do you ask? *whistles innocently* ;-)
American Idol -- for the love of all things holy, will someone please tell me what that godawful cow Carmen is still doing in the competition? She can't sing! Everybody knows she can't sing! Arrrgghhh.
I was really unhappy with last weeks show, because I absolutely love Billy Joel, and I thought all the contestants butchered my favourite songs. Yes, even Clay wasn't above reproach. His and Kimberly Locke's versions were the best, but they weren't brilliant. I cringed all through Carmen and Josh's songs (Piano Man has been my most beloved song since I can remember, and I hated his passionless, shouty version. Sigh.) and wanted to hurl things at the judges -- does Randy Jackson even know any other words than 'dawg' and 'You did your thing, yo'? And what does that even mean? That is not a critique! *kicks him* Let's just hope by the end of the competition somebody tells Paula to stop giving empty platitudes and stuffs a gag in Randy's mouth. (Oh dear, did I just give the Idolslashers some fanfic fodder? Eeep. *giggles*)

It has come to my attention that I am exceedingly popular. Go me! *laughs*
I've made so many friends in the past few days, it's so exciting! Say hello to all these amazingly cool people:
soupytwist,
cabellicious,
randytweed,
ruthybee,
_iscariot,
midgewood58,
nerdcakes,
lady_greenleaf,
squeetard (definitely a long lost twin) and
lord_alexander, who might have to fight
jrivka for the title of Nevvie's Spankpuppet, as she is a very naughty girl, and enjoys flaunting her status as a confirmed SubSlut. *chuckles* ;-)
Why oh why am I not this adored in the 'real' world? I am so astoundingly brilliant after all. I deserve all the love and attention (not to mention cuddles, snogs, gropes and other fun things) that life has to offer! Give it to me NOW! *Veruca Salt tantrum*
Ahem. *regains composure*
I'm sorry, where was I? :)

Date: 2003-04-22 01:50 pm (UTC)I went back for the Billy Joel episode, listened to Caaaaarmen's bleating, and decided to save myself before my small intestine throttled my brain. I think that next season, instead of bringing in guest judges, they should axe Randy and Paula and let Simon deliver a triple helping of invective. Ratings would go through the roof, I tell ya!

Date: 2003-04-22 03:21 pm (UTC)I never watched the first series of American Idol, but this is probably because I don't remember it ever being on here. I watched Popstars, Pop Idol, and Popstars: The Rivals, which was all great fun. And all of them are better than American Idol, because that show never had any behind the scenes footage or any of the delightfully snarky bitchyness of the contestants. I'm only watching American Idol now because I think Clay is a gorgeous geekycute Elfboy, and Kimberly Locke has the most astoundingly beautiful voice.
I saw that Jenny Clarkson or whatever her name is for the first time last week, and she was awful! Yeuuch. I hope Reuben ate her. *laughs*
I'm so glad you agree with me about Carmen the Slutty Sheep. Grrrr.

Date: 2003-04-22 02:58 pm (UTC)You know, I saw American Idol for the first time ever last night, and what really struck me was how much Carmen looks like the slutty older sister on That 70s Show. They even have the same haircut.

I've never seen that series (well, I might have watched it once, a long time ago -- there's a red haired girl and a cute geekyboy in it, right?) but I can just imagine. Carmen is such an uberslut. Bleaugh.

Date: 2003-04-22 04:15 pm (UTC)You need to do it! The ending is fabulous, and you don't need to be incredibly high -- I was level 63 with defense and strength around 40-43 (I can't remember exactly), which isn't nearly as high as you can be, I read that you need to be at least level 75 to beat Hades in the time trial Cup. But I'm too lazy to wait around and do that. *grins* (Plus I need to take the game back to the video store, it's already two days overdue. Whoops. ;-)

Date: 2003-04-22 07:30 pm (UTC)"You did your thing, yo," is an American (ebonic-like) slang term. I guess the best way to translate it (since it's kinda hard to put into words what it means) is: "You're knew what you were doing." Not the best translation, but a translation nonetheless...

Date: 2003-04-23 04:51 am (UTC)Why yes, I am God. Thank you so much for noticing. :)
I always worry because I've never been popular in any way before, so I keep thinking it'll all go away and suddenly my friends are going to start hating me and I'll be alone and friendless once again. I'm such an irrational God, I know.
I'm still singing KH music and playing scenes in my head (and when I did sleep this weekend, I dreamt about KH things), which I rather wish would stop now. I need to start recovering from this obsession. *giggles*

And I am indeed an American Idol watcher, no guilt or shame about it. If Carmen isn't ousted tomorrow night, then I *KNOW* the thing is fixed, the girl can't sing to save her life.
*curtsies*
Re: I'm an American Idol whore...
Date: 2003-04-23 04:46 am (UTC)Well, I would have bragged about your amazingness, but I didn't think that would be fair to the others. *grins*
Carmen must burn in the fiery pits of Hell! Or at least be voted off -- and here's the important bit -- with absolutely NO chance of a record contract. Because I fear that too. *shudder*

Date: 2003-04-23 10:42 am (UTC)Sorry to just bounce in entirely off topic, but the Mithril Awards (http://www.viragene.com/tolkien/) start accepting nominations on Thursday, and
So far we were thinking that we could nominate PGY for Best story focusing on Hobbits. And Hyel checked with the people who are running it, and they said that it would be all right if we nominated individual stories from an unfinished series. So, we could also nominate stories that stand on their own well from West of the Moon for Best Alternate Universe. I was thinking that "The Old Stories", and "Mistress Lobelia's tale", work pretty well on their own, and that "Storms and Rainbows" does a good job of summing up what WotM (and PGY to a certain extent) is all about. We could also nominate "Wild Cherry Tea" for Best Original Character.
We were hoping to sneak around Mary’s back with it, because that way we can surprise her, and you know how she gets when people try to compliment her. So, what do you think?
Love the icon, btw. Utterly cute!

Date: 2003-04-23 12:10 pm (UTC)Hello there!
I've never heard of the Mithril awards (but then, I don't really read any fanfiction -- Mary should be ever so honoured she's one of the three people who's stories I read ;-) but of COURSE I will vote for her! She deserves nothing but praise. Lots and lots of praise. And presents. *grins*
