neverwhere: (Nevvie + Neil = Bliss)

I am still in shock that my little piece of fanfic pie was so well received. (You liked it, you really liked it! *Oscar speech squee*) And no, that's not false modesty, I truly am surprised and more than a little amazed. Or perhaps you're all just flattering me obsequiously, and I'm too blind to notice. ;-)
I suppose this means I have to write more now, doesn't it. Oh dear. *meep*

I have new icons! After months of the same old pictures staring at me all damn day, I finally have something new to show. Well, okay, they're mostly old icons, but I had lost them and only just found the CD they were on, so it's kinda like having new ones. This may not seem like interesting news, but *I'm* rather pleased about it. *grins*

And speaking of interesting news...I had a threesome with two extremely hot musicians last night.
HA! You almost believed that, didn't you. *smirk* (Yeah yeah I know, you didn't really believe such an outrageous lie, as we all know that Nevvie has the sex life of a toaster.)
Alas, I can not claim such felicity, but my nympho kleptomaniac alter ego Fritzie can. It's so depressing when your fictional creations get more action than you know you ever will. *laughs*

There's a forest fire raging in the mountains, and even where I am, 150 miles away by the beach, it is quite literally raining ash, the air smells of smoke and the sun has been blocked out for days. I sometimes feel like a character in 1602, as these would seem to be portents that the End is Nigh. Yeesh.

Yesterday I was actually quite social and attended a mini-meet with a few people from [livejournal.com profile] hp_california, which was fun. We talked and squeed, ate scrumptious food and theorized wildly about Potter goodness. I was just happy to have an excuse to leave my flat for once. *giggles* Thankfully, it was worth it, and I am definitely looking forward to our next get together at Disneyland in two weeks. Does anyone want me to buy them some mouse ears? :)

Oh, before I forget, please welcome new friend [livejournal.com profile] kayselkiemoon, who likes all the same things as me and is therefore exceedingly cool. *grins impishly* And you all must join [livejournal.com profile] ask_trashheap, it's just so Fragglicious! :D

Yes, well, one of my SN's isn't RandomFractal for nothing...

It was a fun paper to write. I got pressed for time, but I really enjoyed the start of it. I write in general, not saying it's good, but the beginning of the paper, or my motivation behind the topic, just felt right to me. I get that sometimes when I write other things, and normally it's a good hunch.

Funny that you tried to teach a class on that. I want to teach, am now actually, and love it. Our professor was great for the Tolkien course, he'd suggest something which was entirely not what he thought, and wait for one of us to challenge him.

Wheel of time is EXTREMELY good. If your friend is a true fan, and she's female, and you tell her Aes Sedai suck, you'll probably bring her wrath down upon you... I think a lot of online communities have formed and are almost becoming solidified as actual organized groups around those books.

Hmm, what brought me here, good question. I think I figured it out, believe it was through etoilepb. I wander on friends lists. The commentary seemed interesting, and anyone who's a potter and lotr fan has to be good people :-P

And besides, your top 10 list in your info was winning. Smoke and Mirrors is a great book. Put mathematically, interesting + random = message.
