Ahoy hoy!

Yesterday I attended an hp_california meet at Disneyland, which was good fun. I finally met airemay,and although I think I might have scared her a bit with my mental instability bounceyness, it was wonderful to see her at last. I don't know why she doesn't make more of the fact that she looks exactly like Christina Ricci. A really tall Christina Ricci. (I'm just a wee hobbit! Her brobdignagian proportions frightened me. *giggles*)
Disneyland (sorry, the Disney Resort) is so completely different than the last time I was there. Five years ago California Adventure was just a tent with some design pictures in the car park outside the main park gates, and there was no Downtown Disney. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. Also overwhelming was being with people so ensconced in the 'fandom' of Harry Potter, and all the politics and inside jokes that entails. They were all very friendly of course, but I couldn't help feeling rather clueless, and unfortunately my behaviour waxed and waned between mad playfulness and quiet reserve. (Rather too much of the latter, I'm afraid.) And I was feeling ill for most of the time, so I don't think I was exactly a bundle of fun to be around. Ah well, at least I got out of the house for once. *grins* (And next time I will be exciting and fun. Go me!)


I've been trying to avoid ROTK spoilers, but my wandering eye found this picture, which made me go GUHHHHHHHHH^^&$@#^%^&*)!!HYRHJYJKWGG! and drool copiously all over myself. (The white treeeeee!) OMGILOVEHIMSOMUCH.

This past week has been an excellent one for making new friends, wheee! achtung_meggy works just down the street from me, grrgoyl thinks I'm exceedingly cool (how perceptive she is ;-), myf is an adorable Aussie bibliophile, belated_fangirl shares alot of my interests and I assume found me through mutual friends, and I met ladynyks last year at the Neil Gaiman signing at Harrods.

We are soo glad you decided to join us. It was obviously that you weren't feeling well, as you kept wandering off on your own. "Where's Nevvie?" should be a new game. And you got a pass with lots of fun people to go with! Yay! Disneyland! Another trip soon, I hope :)

I think I've played the 'Where's Nevvie' game before, with eyre_lasgalen and wreibyn -- somehow I'd also lose them (they would, of course, say I wandered off somewhere ;-) no matter how close we were walking together in London. Tee hee.

Are you really glad I came? Because I thought I was a bit (okay, a lot) of a third wheel, who kept annoying you with my lack of fandom knowledge.

Yes, Yes, yes!! I'm really sorry if you felt like a third wheel. I could tell that you were a bit hurt about some of us meeting up for drinks before we ended up at the Jazz Kitchen. I'm really sorry if you felt a bit awkward, but I'm very glad you got yourself a pass! Lots of fun to be had there, and we've been going to Disney about once a month, so come, come! Try to go to the trailer thingy that Ix is organizing, although I'm not sure if I can go - it sounds like fun! *hugs*

I would go to see the trailer on friday, but I have to work, and I already requested a day off this week. But I am thinking of popping back to Disneyland this weekend for a few hours, as they're apparently having some special events for passholders (including free goodies), and I might as well take advantage of my 'special' status. *G*
