neverwhere: (Neverwhere)

Last year, I was standing above the Thames, facing the Houses of Parliament, and cheered with thousands of other people as Big Ben rang in the start of the new year.

This year, I sat on my bed (the only other piece of furniture in my miserably untidy flat apart from the computer desk), holding a bottle of root beer and watching other people having fun on t.v, and when the big ball dropped in Times Square to signal the start of 2004...I just sat there, sobbing pathetically.

That's how I greeted the new year. As a pathetic, lonely failure.

Please don't let me end the year the same way.

i agree completely with the above!

most of my new years are spent sitting around with my family the same as every other night of the winter holidays, wondering vaguely what I could do to make it more exciting. so know that you aren't alone in non-splendiferous new years activities. *hug*

and dude, the amount of comments to your post should certainly help give you the bolstering you need, no? I agree with someone above who said that it's mostly a state of mind, and think that so many wonderful things are bound to happen to you in the coming year that this one night won't way you down at the end. I wish you much joy, my dear!

*chuckles*

Wondering vaguely what to do to make things more exciting is definitely a holiday tradition in my family. Especially with my mum. My dad just says 'fuck it, let's get naked and play ping pong' (well, not really, but that's the metaphorical idea what he says anyway ;-), but my mum dithers until the last minute. Sadly, in this respect I take after her. *G*

I am so stupid to avoid coming online when I am sad, when there are so many wonderful people here who make me happy.

*huuuugs*
