neverwhere: (A heart full of love by Gwaith)
[personal profile] neverwhere
Instead of doing the usual 2003 meme thingy that's been floating around, I thought I would take this opportunity to list the positive things that happened, to remind myself that it wasn't such a bad year after all. Probably. ;-)

In vaguely chronological order:

2003 was the year I...

Attended [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn and [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick's fantastic LOTR themed party

Met Sir Ian Mckellen (three times, although I suppose only the first one counts, as the other two I was watching other people meet him)

Saw the brilliant Jerry Springer: The Opera, which Neil Gaiman continues to rave about

Performed some of my favourite showtunes on a north London stage

Fell madly in best friendly adoration with [livejournal.com profile] trianne

Searched for the real Watership Down with [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn and [livejournal.com profile] evil_nick, and quite possibly found it

Met Alan Cumming at a reading/booksigning for Tommy's Tale

Went to Collectormania 3 with [livejournal.com profile] trianne, [livejournal.com profile] hjartad, and [livejournal.com profile] sheldrake, and met John Rhys-Davies, Corin Nemec, Andy Serkis...and Billy Boyd. Billy sang to me. Still swooning about that, actually. :)

Moved to L.A. (am desperately trying to see this as a Positive Thing)

Saw my sister whom I hadn't seen in over five years, and met my second, not-so-new 4 year old nephew for the first time

Attended all four glorious days of Comic-Con, where I saw hobbits, various other celebrities, met [livejournal.com profile] maybethemoon, spent way too much money on fabulously geeky things, attended all of Neil Gaiman's panels, and although I did not get to speak to my idol, my beloved my Captain my King, I did receive a superspecial 'I recognize you even across a very crowded room and am going to make a special winking smile meant especially for you' look from him. Which will sustain me until the next time I can stalk see him. :)

Drank lots of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf ice blended mochas. Mmmmm.

Discovered [livejournal.com profile] achtung_meggy and [livejournal.com profile] undomiel_tari live just down the street from me

Was assaulted at work, identified the criminal, and wallowed in smug satisfaction as he was sent to prison

Was on V Graham Norton three times, although the show where I was filmed actually doing something had my part cut out. But I had fun, which is all that matters.

Shared the utterly magickal experience of Trilogy Tuesday, thanks to the kindness of [livejournal.com profile] llanerch

Made lots of wonderful new LJ friends, whom I cherish and love.

...When looked at like that, I suppose it wasn't such a bad year, really. :)

Well, I am crazyinlove wit you too, babyeeeee :)

But I missed this and feel terrible: Was assaulted at work, identified the criminal, and wallowed in smug satisfaction as he was sent to prison - are you alright? I assume so, but that must have been awful. ((((Nevvikins))))

And Graham Norton? He couldn't face the competition, darling, simple as that.

Tommy's Tale rules.

And am way jealous. You've met more cool people than me, and the Neil knows you. Meh. Though have met the Neil and the Billeh and the Serkis, so that isn't too bad. :D

I think I have a new, completely egotistical project -- to filk the Genesis song Jesus, he knows me and replace 'Jesus' with 'Neil Gaiman'. *grins hugely*

Heheh, me too, though I'd let you go first. :D

Am now having way too much fun randomly putting 'Neil Gaiman' into otherwise perfectly innocent songs. Hee.

"And don't look at Neil Gaiman, I heard her say..."

"Can't buy me Neeeeeeeeeeeil, can't buy me Neeeiiiil, I don't care too, much for money, money can't buy me Neil!

*LOL*

Any song can be improved with Neil in it.

I'm a Neil Gaiman in a bottle, you gotta rub me the right way...

Neil Gaiman's back -- ALLRIGHT!

Once, twice, three times Neil Gaiman...

Hee. "Doctor, doctor come quick! There's two girls in Casualty you need to see at once!"

"What's the matter with them?"

"Well, one of them is singing something about 'There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Gaiman' and the other one is doing a weird dance and going 'eeeee' a lot."

*snerks*

He's electric! He's got a family full of eccentrics! He's done things never expected, and we call him Neeeiiillll!

LOL we really do need help. Bwah. You're 'Neil Gaiman in a Bottle' is so wrong that it WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE and keeps making me go 'heh heh heh'. "You gotta rub me the right way" indeed.

(Now that's something that should never be amusing 24 hours later. LOL.)

OMG - "Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the Neil does go oooonnn.... Once more I open the door
And you’re here , in the bookshop so dear, and the Neil will go on and on... You’re here, there’s nothing I fear, and I know that the Neil will go on..."

*is icked by self*

Also, while it may be true that "the Beatles didn't break up! They just turned into Oasis!", as a Manc, I'm officially required to defend their honour. :P *raises fish threateningly*

As I also adore you very much, I promise to refrain from mentioning said band. :)

Though OMG, you really will love it, man. I'll get you the DVD for your birthday or something. Seriously. You cannot miss such goodness as that which inspired my icon. :D (This dude is going "Oh, Hazel, you're so lucky to have the gayboys around all the time. They're so *funny* - great sense of humour, the lot of them!" To which she goes, "And they make such good PETS." Hah!)

*snogs you silly :D*

I WANT A 'PET'. Yes please! :D

Is it so wrong to want a humble minion to pet and stroke and love and to submit to my every whim? I think not. ;-)

Whaddya mean Paul doesn't count!? He was PURE SEX in that waistcoat, and quite frankly it's about time da laydeees got some Doctor eye candy, since the boys have had it all since the start. Plus he's so sweet and whimsical. It's all about the whimsy!

Well. I suppose I can forgive you, since you're such an outstandingly good kisser. *smirks* ;-)

LOL, that's actually a quote from Queer as Folk. :D (Vince in QAF is not only cute but also a severe Who nerd. Bless him. And there's one thing involving that quote which is the cutest thign in the history of OMG OIPOIUIHAKJJAKJAKLJKAJKL-ness. seriously. I'll spoil if you like, but seriously Gyah.)

Also, Paul McGann is so much cuter with his Withnail hair.... :P

Incidentally, if it's wrong to want a pet minion, then I don't wanna be right. :D Though cute and whimsical is always good. :D

And yay, I get forgiven on the basis of snoggage. I can so cope with that. LOL.

S'not that much Neil. I've had more Neil-fied years before. 2002 had lots. 1998 was a good Neil year too. *giggles*

Although I think 2003 had the most other people meeting Neil for me -- [livejournal.com profile] brandybuck, [livejournal.com profile] jrivka, [livejournal.com profile] ladynyks, even my mum all met Neil and talked about me to him. My mother now loves Neil. She (finally) fell under his spell, after years of not understanding what all the fuss was about. ;-)

Yes! Didn't you know? The BBC did it last year, and now it's available on CD. At least, it is in the UK. I don't think I've ever seen it in the states though. I'm sure someone will be selling it on Ebay. *G*

I love Will's voice, and Lyra is great too, it's just a bit odd to hear them as real children -- even though you know that they're young, but it still comes as a bit of a shock. Pantalaimon is voiced perfectly, he's my favourite. But then, I love him the most in the books too. :)

I think you managed to see that year as pretty damn positive. Well done you! ;)
I was just kicking myself, because I was in London the other day and I had somehow gotten it into my head that you lived there and I was thinking if I had of organised myself in time I would have perhaps asked if you wanted a coffee, but then I read you live in LA! Ha, that sorted that then!
Hope 2004 brings you nothing but good things!

I insist on eventually helping make moving to L.A. a positive thing. Really, I do. I simply need my driver's licence, which should happen before the end of the month, and then we can finally manage to have midnight pancakes or see a movie or something along those lines.

And don't worry about missing the party. I totally understand. You were missed, however. Next time I have a party, you'll be invited again, and you can count on that.
