A Year in Review
Jan. 4th, 2004 03:25 pmInstead of doing the usual 2003 meme thingy that's been floating around, I thought I would take this opportunity to list the positive things that happened, to remind myself that it wasn't such a bad year after all. Probably. ;-)
In vaguely chronological order:
2003 was the year I...
Attended
mirabehn and
evil_nick's fantastic LOTR themed party
Met Sir Ian Mckellen (three times, although I suppose only the first one counts, as the other two I was watching other people meet him)
Saw the brilliant Jerry Springer: The Opera, which Neil Gaiman continues to rave about
Performed some of my favourite showtunes on a north London stage
Fell madly in best friendly adoration with
trianne
Searched for the real Watership Down with
mirabehn and
evil_nick, and quite possibly found it
Met Alan Cumming at a reading/booksigning for Tommy's Tale
Went to Collectormania 3 with
trianne,
hjartad, and
sheldrake, and met John Rhys-Davies, Corin Nemec, Andy Serkis...and Billy Boyd. Billy sang to me. Still swooning about that, actually. :)
Moved to L.A. (am desperately trying to see this as a Positive Thing)
Saw my sister whom I hadn't seen in over five years, and met my second, not-so-new 4 year old nephew for the first time
Attended all four glorious days of Comic-Con, where I saw hobbits, various other celebrities, met
maybethemoon, spent way too much money on fabulously geeky things, attended all of Neil Gaiman's panels, and although I did not get to speak to my idol, my beloved my Captain my King, I did receive a superspecial 'I recognize you even across a very crowded room and am going to make a special winking smile meant especially for you' look from him. Which will sustain me until the next time I can stalk see him. :)
Drank lots of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf ice blended mochas. Mmmmm.
Discovered
achtung_meggy and
undomiel_tari live just down the street from me
Was assaulted at work, identified the criminal, and wallowed in smug satisfaction as he was sent to prison
Was on V Graham Norton three times, although the show where I was filmed actually doing something had my part cut out. But I had fun, which is all that matters.
Shared the utterly magickal experience of Trilogy Tuesday, thanks to the kindness of
llanerch
Made lots of wonderful new LJ friends, whom I cherish and love.
...When looked at like that, I suppose it wasn't such a bad year, really. :)

Date: 2004-01-05 04:33 pm (UTC)(Now that's something that should never be amusing 24 hours later. LOL.)
OMG - "Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the Neil does go oooonnn.... Once more I open the door
And you’re here , in the bookshop so dear, and the Neil will go on and on... You’re here, there’s nothing I fear, and I know that the Neil will go on..."
*is icked by self*
Also, while it may be true that "the Beatles didn't break up! They just turned into Oasis!", as a Manc, I'm officially required to defend their honour. :P *raises fish threateningly*
SNARF
Date: 2004-01-05 04:39 pm (UTC)TitanicNeil is a world of wrong. Yikes! *lmao*
Because I adore you so very much, I will refrain from making any statements about the pantsness of a certain Mancunian band. :-P
biscuit! *is random*
Date: 2004-01-05 04:49 pm (UTC)As I also adore you very much, I promise to refrain from mentioning said band. :)
Re: biscuit! *is random*
Date: 2004-01-05 07:04 pm (UTC)*munches biscuit*
I can name all nine -- yes, nine -- Doctors, because let's not forget Peter Cushing! *giggles*
And I've never seen QaF, although I know I should. Eeep. :)

Re: biscuit! *is random*
Date: 2004-01-05 07:13 pm (UTC)Though OMG, you really will love it, man. I'll get you the DVD for your birthday or something. Seriously. You cannot miss such goodness as that which inspired my icon. :D (This dude is going "Oh, Hazel, you're so lucky to have the gayboys around all the time. They're so *funny* - great sense of humour, the lot of them!" To which she goes, "And they make such good PETS." Hah!)
*snogs you silly :D*
Re: biscuit! *is random*
Date: 2004-01-05 07:19 pm (UTC)I WANT A 'PET'. Yes please! :D
Is it so wrong to want a humble minion to pet and stroke and love and to submit to my every whim? I think not. ;-)
Whaddya mean Paul doesn't count!? He was PURE SEX in that waistcoat, and quite frankly it's about time da laydeees got some Doctor eye candy, since the boys have had it all since the start. Plus he's so sweet and whimsical. It's all about the whimsy!
Well. I suppose I can forgive you, since you're such an outstandingly good kisser. *smirks* ;-)
Re: biscuit! *is random*
Date: 2004-01-05 07:24 pm (UTC)Also, Paul McGann is so much cuter with his Withnail hair.... :P
Incidentally, if it's wrong to want a pet minion, then I don't wanna be right. :D Though cute and whimsical is always good. :D
And yay, I get forgiven on the basis of snoggage. I can so cope with that. LOL.
