I have a new job!

I have a new car!

I quite possibly have a lawsuit pending against Hollywood Video because they owe me $500 in unpaid wages and never gave me breaks!

WOOOHOOOOOO!

I was hired on monday at Technicolour Creative Services in Hollywood (just off the Sunset Strip) and start work there next week, which is just so exciting I'm still finding it difficult to contain my glee. I'm basically doing menial labour but it won't be difficult and I'll most likely be promoted rather soon as other areas in the company are always looking for ripe and ready employees. Now you can all say you know someone in the film industry! Aren't you lucky. *grins impishly*

In case you've forgotten, I was rear-ended on the motorway about three weeks ago, and last night I finally got my replacement. It's a newer model of the old one (2003 Hyundai Accent), with only 4000 miles on it, so it's practically brand new, and is the most gorgeous sparkly silver colour. Mmmmm. She just needs a name -- so far I'm favouring something with 'silver' in Elvish (like Celebriel) or Islington, Izzie for short. Isn't that cute? Something angelic and shiny would suit her best. Any suggestions? :)

And the lawsuit...well, my father the hotshot labour lawyer knows someone who's filing a class action suit against my former employer and wants me to get in on the action. We'll wait and see what happens. Wouldn't it be fantastic if I won a million dollars? Awww yeahhhh. *G*

Regarding the lawsuit probability: as far as I know, the deadline on the class action suit brought against Hollywood has run out, and anyone who wanted in had to meet the deadline over a year ago. Having said that, if you dad actually knows the attorney handling the case he may be able to squeeze you in, and I'd be real interested in knowing about it!

The real hurdle is this: unless you exempted out of it when it was first introduced last year, you agreed to abide by the terms of mediation set forth by Hollywood Video, therefore you would be unable to bring forth a lawsuit against them. The only recourse in that case is to go to mediation on HV's terms and hope your argument is strong enough to persuade the judge to rule in your favor. Again, I'd be real interested in knowing about what happens.

Congratulations on the new job, though! AND the new(ish) car! Things are looking up for you right now, and I hope the ball keeps rolling in your favour!

I'm meeting the attorney handling the case tomorrow, actually. Apparently a large group of former employees from one or more stores in Riverside (about 50-ish miles away) are filing the suit, and she wants to hear my story to add to their grievances. Or something. I'm not exactly sure what the deal is, I just know she wants to speak with me. :)
