Absolutely furious about Oscar nominations. Or rather, THE LACK THEREOF.

Can't even talk right now, am so angry, and utterly, utterly disappointed.

Sigh.

I'm not nearly as upset about the acting (we all knew they'd never be nominated) as I am about directing, score, and screenplay. NO reason on earth justifies TTT being left out of these categories. None.

I also think Andy would have been brilliant without the CGI, but I didn't mind Gollum as much as you. I did, however, much prefer the look he originally had in FOTR, with darker skin and gecko-like hands.

Don't worry, you're not insane. At least, not today. ;-)

Huh? How do you picture that? I mean, Andy looks... like a healthy human being; poor Gollum is so starved I think his need for the Ring is the only thing that keeps him alive! Personally, I think the Gollum CGI is brilliant ( not perfect, but I don't think perfection will be achieved in CGI for some time yet! ;-), he looks very real and Andy's performance has been wonderfully "translated" by the techlology!

OK, so I need glasses..! ( Won't get myself any until I can't read a normal book anymore! )

Oh, and has anybody noticed this LJ-entry has become a veritable messageboard?! ;-P

Have you seen Andy act the scenes as Gollum? Even in his tightywhitey suit, he is still amazing. He could have lost weight, worn makeup, and still be Gollum.

I do love Gollum the CGI character, but I don't think it would have been so terrible for him to be a real actor either.

Messageboards are fun. *G*

I've only seen very little of Andy as Gollum, mainly the "jumping-into-icy-cold-water" sequence. This is Sweden, remember, and I can't afford a DVD-player, so I have to be content with what they show on TV + the extended VHS..! The poor man would have to starve to within and inch of death to look the way I picture Gollum, but it would've been interesting to watch... ( Not watching a half-dead Andy, but watching him play Gollum "in person"! I'm not that sadistic, you know! ;-P )

Ok, maybe I'm overestimating Andy's acting abilities slightly. It's just the more I think about Gollum the more I really don't like what he looked like!

I'm just going from the shots I've seen of Smegol half way to being Gollum. Looked pretty cool in my opinion.

There was a very good deamon on Buffy a few weeks back actually that made me think that CGI doesn't have to mean daft. It was the one that ate skin and I was quite scared! I presume it was CGI anyway, if it wasn't then that's just more for my case!

Aii! The flesh eater from 'Same Time, Same Place'. That wasn't CGI, it was in fact an actor who also played one of the Gentleman in the brilliant series 4 episode 'Hush'. And yes, I am a geek. :D

Well, I watched it at 1am so I couldn't remember. Scary though and they have a tiny budget compared to films!

I had a horrible nightmare after watching 'Hush'. I'm such a wimp!
