Feb. 11th, 2003 06:31 pmAbsolutely furious about Oscar nominations. Or rather, THE LACK THEREOF.
Can't even talk right now, am so angry, and utterly, utterly disappointed.
Sigh.

Date: 2003-02-12 07:25 am (UTC)And the awards would validate the seriousness of LOTR, and the fantasy genre in general -- it's not just a 'silly fairy story' after all, it's blood, sweat and tears. It's beautiful and it's brilliant. And dammit, it DESERVES to be recognized.
Out of everything I've heard regarding the awards and LotR, I think what you said just about sums up exactly how I feel about it. LotR deserves so much more than it gets. I was terribly disappointed when Howard Shore didn't get nominated while John Williams got nominated for the 80 billionth time.
Grr. Argh.

Date: 2003-02-12 12:17 pm (UTC)Hey Annie! *squish*
I wish everyone could see our perspective and not dismiss LOTR as being trivial fantasy. I think Chicago is more of a fantasy film than TTT, as it's done almost entirely through dream sequences, but you won't hear ANYONE call that a fantasy.
Such a hypocritical world we live in. Sigh.
